People have been piercing, cutting and decorating themselves for over thousands of years..
It's not a "new" fad by any means.

Oh haha. the 'Thousand of years' attempt at some 'legitimacy' thing is still being tried?
Yeah look.. it was and apparently still is a fad to some people.
It doesnt impress me of course because I have had real body modifications done as well as real tattoos to go with it.
So store-bought ones are for white suburban girls trying to get me to think something about them which I dont.

But hey.. here is a question for you: Is there ANY stabbed metal in your skin which you have NEVER shown anyone?
    Nope.
That true for ALL people who do this.
    You do it for ME.
    Thats sad.

    Please, just stop it already.
Whats next - your gonna get a lower back tattoo and a thong?
    Shave off all your pubes?
Have you heard of this new music called 'Emo' yet?
Wow.. its almost the Year 2000!

Im trying to help you - please understand that.
    You will thank me later.

so how are your mods and tattoos any different than piercings?

do you have any tattoos that noone has ever seen?

i dont walk around showing off my piercings, although some are very visible. the ones that are slightly hidden, either by clothing or hair, are just that. i dont go out of my way to hide them from friends, but im not gonna go and cut my hair so i can parade my nape.

and while i dont have any unseen metal in my skin at the present time, ive had plenty of bars in my arms that were covered for the entire time they could have been seen by friends, family or others. had them from a few minutes to a few weeks.. without a single person ever knowing of them.. didnt need to go out of my way as i was wearing a lot of longsleeves at the time due to weather.. did them for a few purposes, most basicly just because i like the feeling of the piercing itself, ive become quite fond of needles over the years..hell ive got a needle through my arm right now, about to depart.. and if i wasnt making this post then nobody would of ever known

and well, yes piercing along with other bodymods have been performed for centuries if not thousands of years. but you can run along and live in your fantasy world all your want

Your not an obscure Tribal Warrior from 2,000 years ago.
    Thats not what your doing.
Your partaking in a modern western fad popularised in the last decade and having nothing to do with Maori Warriors or African Chiefs from some obscure tribes.
Dont even bother selling that because nobody even bought that in the 90s and thats when it was cool if it ever was.

You do this FOR other people.
I mean.. we wear certain clothes 'for' other people too, its just that you are defacing and slashing your own body for other people - thats what makes it so sad.
    Stop it.

BTW - I had a rather serious event which required massive amount of metal be inserted and real tattoos means real scars.
Im what tattooed and piercing people want to be.
    Wannabe.
They want the social respect and attention (they think) comes naturally but its a store-bought fake version.
"Oh mannnn.. how did you get that.. that must have hurt.. I have a respect for what you went through.. your showing a demonstration of courage..."
Except piercings are a fake or perverse version and they only impress those at that level anyways.

Ultimately thats what Maori Warriors were demonstrating when they scarred themselves on purpose.
Even then - they were creating fake versions of what ultimately was a simulation of a guy with REAL battle wounds on his face and arms.
Its simulated the respect the real warrior would have gotten.

Stop trying to simulate respect and get that store-bought man-made crap out of your face and if you want to get attention and 'Juice' from people just do so with your own character.
    2006 almost.
    not 1997 anymore.
    Come on?

ok, well youre too ignorant to listen to anyone, which i assumed originally from your avatar.. but really.. do you actually know anything, anything at all about the Maori and Mokus? Because you sound like you know jackshit about them and are just trying to use a culture (which yes, has been performing cultural body modifications for over 100years without any outside influences) to suit you needs and view.

Doesn't change the fact you are allowing some dude to keep busy while almost everyone else has tossed these things in the trash and hidden all those embarrassing 'tongue sticking out' pictures that feature pierciings.
Please.. dont be like this guy I know who is still driving around in a 81 Camaro, has 'Heavy Metal' blasting out the speakers and wants to know when 'Guns'nRoses' will come to town.
You might as well get a 'barbwire' tattoo at this point.
    Stop already.
    Please!

Im glad you have your own point of views , but this is totally off subject. So why didnt you just make your own thread and get the fuck out of mine. Cause you random convo on "fad piercings" is a complete cry for attention. So let me give you my point of view! Now i hope you consant bable on this is coming to an end because if i have to read one more post in my thread that is as completely off subject as yours im gonna crack. In case you didnt know it was said to be that "Our bodies are unwritten canvos's , we have been givin to right to make it our masterpiece" Now i didnt get my things done because of its a fad cause believe me its not a fad here. I didnt get it to stand out. I didnt get it to freak people out or rebel agianst my parents. I have been getting my body peircings since i was 11 (my father took me to a shop to get my navel done) They are just a part of who i am and they are my masterpiece weather anyone else has the same thing as me is not my problem. So please dont let the door hit you on your ass on your way out of this thread.
    Have a lovely day!

i had a horizontal piercing below my belly button...its a hard area to heal (from your stomach bending from sitting) Mine never fully healed - i would either roll over on it at night or bump it..and yeah, it just got too angry at me. Good luck.
    :)

It's quite obvious that you're one of "those" types that make heavily modded and tattooed people look bad, because no one elses mods are as meaningful or worthwhile as your own.

You're obviously angry about something, what's your problem?
NOTHING is new, NOTHING is not a fad, EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE! If someone wants to get tattooed or pierced, it's their fucking perogative!

Do you think that the music you listen to or the clothes you wear aren't a fad or been a fad at some point in time? You're bitching at someone for doing something that, you know what, who gives a fuck if it's to impress their friends? They're the one who's going to have to deal with healing it, scar tissue, etc.. And you know what, sometimes people do things for themeselves and not their friends!?

I swear, this society has really brainfucked some peope.
