2nd Coming of the 60s

We are living in a decade that is eerily similar to the 60s. Everyone is nostalgic for the 50s, 80s & 90s. In the 60s people were just nostalgic for the 50s, maybe 20s too.

Instead of "haight ashbury" we had "occupy" in New York, Oakland and just about every state in America, as well as other countries. So it's an international phenomenon instead of just one street corner. The 60s started at the corner of haight and ashbury in cali.

Instead of acid, marijuana and cocaine slowly becoming nationally illegal drugs, we are slowly working towards finding the correct applications for such things.

Instead of a "mad men" stock rush, there is a bitcoin stock rush.

We have hipsters instead of hippies.

Our guns are being restricted (same as the 60s) we will probably be getting our right to bear arms back though, instead of losing it like we did in the 60s.

I think it is going to straight up repeat itself, except the hipster movement will be 10x as big, and 100x as meaningless as the hippy movement.

Ex: Skrillex VS The Beatles

 

Unless they bring back the draft I don't think any new counterculture movement will be comparable in size to the 60s.

Wrong, Because:
1: College is making Hipsters.
2: Occupy was the BEGINNING, just like Haight Ashbury. And just using that as an indicator, this will be massive.
3: Social Networking. Nuff said.

I think you are way off base with all of this.
Also, the concept of "hipster" isn't as new as you think.

 

The occupy movement has sputtered. It was a flash in the pan.

Wishful thinking. This is a completely different decade, we can compare and speculate but when we do I don't see a second 60's coming in any way. I'm not pessimistic overall because of that, I see many positive things happening and I think all the 'ingredients' that made the 60's great have never been absent (perhaps in some places but the 60's itself weren't different in that of course). And what have hipsters to do with another 60's? Even the green movement seems better comparable to a hippie movement than what those hipsters seem to be about.

I took 2c-I when it was legal, and it was like 3/4ths as good as acid, so I'm sure 25I-NBOME (which is stronger in general, and more potent by weight) is comparable acid.

And you can't even really have an opinion, you say you will never take any of these, and I assume you haven't. So how can you have any further judgment than that?

Damn, maybe someone else said that. I smoke while I'm on the computer and I always assume I'm talking to the same person, unless something like this happens. Then I start recognizing people, and learning who people are.
