28 killed, dozens injured in Chinese train station

I went to this city..Crazy.

What could have been done to prevent this?

Nothing? Anything?

Thoughts?

 

Many men dressed in black just raided a train station in a southern city (I have been there, one of my favorite cities in China) with knifes and killed at least 28 and injured many more?

Could this have been prevented in any way? How? Or not? Thoughts?

It's funny how when something like this happens in China, nobody seems to care, much less notice. But when it happens in the US, or some European country, it's all over the news.

The solution? Knife control, obviously.

So true. But the shit thing is, when something bad does happen in China, it's often the CCP who block stuff from getting out.

Not sure what caused this one, normally this kind of stuff happens in northern and western China with either ethnic clashes or attempted uprisings against the government.

I understand that people can be mad about a variety of causes, but the willingness to kill or harm so many innocent people... horrifying

I read the full article. However, this particular area of China is host to a large number of ethnic minorities who are NOT Uyghur. It's right down in the south and Xinjiang is in the upper west. Seems strange that Uyghur would attack so far from home but I guess it's possible. Normally attacks linked to them have been in Xinjiang province which they are native too, or in Beijing.

As you say, as this stage it's really hard to guess who is responsible and what their motive was. Am talking to friends in China now, they say attackers have been confirmed Uighur. They are attacking in the south because they are now expanding from Xinjiang to take their fight to the rest of China. Hope this post makes sense am typing as I talk to friends. :2thumbsup:

 

Tibet has a massive supply of fresh water, Xinjiang has the oil. Both want to be seperate from China, but China won't allow it.

Bad news about innocent people being killed and hurt. The best way to defend against a knife attack is to have a gun that starts with a 4.

 

Well there were multiple assailants...whereas only 1 assailant was required to reach that victim count when they had firearms.


Doesn't make it any less tragic though.

I do wonder if the gender imbalance can be to blame for this act of violence. Societies with more men than women tend to be more violent.
