What has been haunting me since I heard about this is when the parents of those slain sit down in their living rooms tonight next to their Christmas trees knowing they won't be celebrating with their kids this year.

I was thinking about that too. Not that I place a lot of emphasis on Christmas but..looking at the presents that won't be opened and enjoythey his year... the parents must be absolutely heart broken... Heartbroken. I'm heartbroken. I can't even imagine. No one should ever have to go through that.

sorry for your loss, but getting nowhere grumbling about it. you think I havent personally lost anyone around the holidays. ptff. thats life bro..

society created these holidays to get a rise out of people. it seems to be working.

I believe orison was posing a rhetorical question and just missed the "?" mark -- or maybe not. I'll offer the benefit of the doubt.

However, insofar as Christmas provoking anything even similar to what happened at Sandy Hook, he can as you say "choke on a nut".

How can we know? The guy was fighting at home and killed someone before he went to kill his mom at the school....Could have been holiday tension related.

I'm glad he's dead, I don't wanna hear the media analyze his bullshit reasons. There's nothing good enough for you to kill off children. Just take yourself out, why kill kids & others?

Completely understanding your meaning, I can't accept the excuse that celebration of a religious holiday caused the tragedy. Perhaps it's the way too many have come to think of the particular holiday that has created the "tension" but isn't that the fault of those who've succumbed to the pressure of the expectations of others?

Maybe, but not necessarily. In some work places there is high pressure, overtime etc. related to the holiday, even for those who would otherwise choose to avoid it all together.

Good question. I've read that the shooter was mistaken for his brother, so there are two identities floating around in stories. I also read that the police detained someone in the woods. That person was wearing camo, while the supposed shooter was found dead in the school, dressed in black and wearing a bullet proof vest. It's kind of twisted. Also, his girlfriend and another friend are "missing". Whatever that means. I've heard no i.d. on who was killed at home.

No...according to the east coast news, there was only the 1 shooter who killed himself.

The other person taken into custody was just a kid that heard the gun shots from a near-by home (a 17 yr old) that came running through the woods to the school because his little sister went to the school.

Killer's brother was found elsewhere and taken into custody, but according to the news he had no prior knowledge that his brother was going to do this.
