There have been 8 shooting incidents in two days. Twenty-four people have been shot, 4 fatally. http://www.upi.com/blog/2013/09/21/Chicago-shootings-leave-4-dead/6951379778875/
We've become desensitized. I read something last night that noted the shootings of multiple people are barely cause for pause anymore. It asked how many people would have to be shot at once to grab our attention.
i didnt realize someone opened fire in a park..and we were discussing a isolated incident since the statistics for shootings in chicago have been extremely high consistantly for over a year.... the south side especially is dangerousoliceman:
No, this didn't happen. How the hell can this happen in a city with super-strict gun laws and a ban on hand guns? Guns aren't even allowed in Chicago so how can someone have a gun in a gun-free zone? Can somebody explain to me how gun related crime is so high there with laws to protect the populace from mass shootings?
So much so, I didnt bother reading up on these or the Naval Yard one. Seriously, if theses dudes have given up and are going to end it, why not do something cool and try jump the Grand Canyon in a stolen Cement mixer and get someone else to upload the vid. Not take it out on innocent people, kids especially, losers
its something I've noticed. I didn't even give this or the navy shooting any pause. I don't know that its desensitization so much as such a deep rooted disgust that I can't personally bear to hear about it anymore.
I saw a vice special recently on crime in Chicago. Apparently the city closed a bunch of low cost housing and many were forced to move, in some cases gang members moving into rival gang territories and gang members now calling it Chiraq.
radical terrorists in the shame of Islam .. They just dont put out the value shows like they used to.. ..
Happens every day. I live somewhat near Chi town. Ive heard gunshots almost every time i go into the city.
Chicago has a gun ban, Willy. Nice try though. You seem to be under the impression that criminals give a shit about the law. Also, Chicago is a prime example on why gun bans won't stop gun crimes. It'll just cause the black market to flourish.
Illinois has no death penalty. so criminals there get away with murder. bring it back enforce it hard on gun crime... Its the only way. Eliminate the appeals process , trial by jury, convictions straight to gas chamber in 24hrs. You watch a see how quickly gun crime stops.
What about it? Do you think stiff gun laws would stop things like this? The extremely stiff gun laws on the books in Chicago certainly didn't stop shit. I'm curious to know how many of the weapons used were obtained legally.
