Yeah, I read that too about the stolen passports. And they didn't have time to send a distress message to anybody, so whatever happened was very quick. They're not confirming terrorism yet, but I suppose that's a possibility, although no one has claimed responsibility. Also, some Vietnamese air force jets spotted 2 fuel slicks at the approximate location of the last contact made with the plane.

This is exactly why i never want to fly again.....I always had a bad feeling of dieing in a plane crash, and have flown lots in my life, already, playing Russian roulet....but I have gotten less brave about it. This is very sad to me. Guess, if I want to go anywhere, I will take a boat. They do not scare me.

I dont suspect terror because the radar drop indicates sudden loss of altitude. A rudder elevator vertical stabilizer failure. Was plane on auto pilot ,, lots of unknowns at this time... Ive a feeling its found or close to being found by now. a plane of this size just dont vanish... cause will learned soon enough.. rips.

If they can get down there and get the black box, that might provide some answers. But there's no telling how deep it went. There is some deep water in that part of the world. I remember hearing last night though that some search and rescue people from Vietnam were picking up an emergency beacon. If that is still active, maybe that can guide them right to it.

You're more likely to die in a car crash than on a plane.

I've been thinking about those 2 stolen passports. Could that be terrorists trying to hide their identities and then blowing themselves up in the plane?

Odds are yes, but my premonitions ever since childhood were of a plane death....like that Oh, Donna singer guy had...La Bamba?....do you know who I mean? I don't.
Am very careful in cars and really do not like long road trips anymore, either.
Too many drivers out there that drive badly, and one must drive for them, too. :(

Why hide their identities if they were going to blow themselves up?

I'm putting my money on aliens.

That was Ritchie Valens, who died in a crash back in 1959 along with Buddy Holly and a few others. I haven't heard about any premonitions he had. Maybe that was Buddy Holly. Anyway, the story is that Ritchie was originally going by bus, and Tommy Allsup was supposed to fly, but they did a coin toss and Ritchie won, so that's how he got a seat on the plane.

Yeah, one of those singers always thought he would die ina plane...if the movie about it was true...La Bamba was the movie, I think.
It has been so long since I have seen that film.

Lol, come on. If they were known terrorists they could be on a watch list and not even allowed on the plane. That's why they would want to hide their identities.

Yeah, that was a good movie. When I was real little I was afraid of not only flying, but planes in general. When I was about 3 we were on vacation in Florida and my parents took me to the Miami airport to watch the planes take off and it scared the crap out of me. Later on I actually loved to fly. My worst experience was back in '81 when I was in the Navy. We were on a transport from Lemoore to Alameda to get on the ship. Along the way we lost cabin pressure at 20,000 ft. The masks dropped, but mine didn't work. No air at all. I could still breathe, but it wasn't doing me much good. I remember a lot of pressure in my head, and my ears and sinuses hurt like hell. I just went into a kind of calm state that's hard to describe. Probably from lack of oxygen. But there was no panic, just a kind of shock, maybe. Eventually they got us down to a low enough altitude that I began to feel better. I'll never forget that though.

Haha, I thought you meant that they wouldn't want people to know who they were after the fact.

I don't know. I guess that could come out in the investigation. And sometimes these guys will make videos beforehand identifying themselves and making statements about why they're doing it.

That's the first thing I thought of too, space aliens did it. If the plane crashed, how could the world not be aware of that? Even if it didn't crash but just flew off path, it wouldn't still be flying by now.

About which part, the hilarity of space aliens kidnapping a plane full of people? I laughed for two straight minutes but that's just because I find that saying "space aliens" is very ticklish.

But yeah, seriously ... if the plane crashed, how the hell could the world not be aware of that?

Well, they were aware that something had gone wrong, because they lost contact and lost them on radar. There was no mayday or anything of that nature sent, so whatever happened was very quick. We could speculate all day on what could have caused it, but we'll just have to wait on the investigation, or maybe a statement from some terrorist group, if that's what happened. I kind of doubt that space aliens were involved, lol.

Edit: I wasn't sure you were joking about space aliens. Sorry.
