How big a pile would that be if they were all dumped in the same spot?

22 billion means that's 22,000 million I think so 22,000 piles of one million shoes every year.

The article also said 23 billion pairs of shoes are made every year Shoe waste: how consumption became culture

An acre-foot is the area of one acre with a height of one foot. It measures 66 feet by 660 feet (acre) by 1 foot; 43 560 cu ft. Typically used for large water volumes. One international acre-foot (ac ft) is 1233.48183754752 cubic meters (m3). Billion Cubic Feet To Other Units | Kyle's Converter

So 22 billion cubic feet is 505050.51 acre-feet

I am just trying to get some idea of the size of the pile all the shoe trash would be if in one spot.

88,000 cu ft is an olimpic swimming pool say 6 pairs of shoes in one square ft

Or volume empire state building is 37 million cubic feet

I can't seem to do it.

That’s a lot of shoes thrown away but if everybody would go barefoot we wouldn’t have all of that shoe waste and we wouldn’t long lasting footprint on the world.
