My degree is in Earth Science(biology, botany, geology), with an emphasis on meteorology, and climate,
Is there climate change? Of course. climate changes all the time, and has for millions of years.
Is there global warming? I believe that science has proven that there is.
Is global warming caused by humans? I believe that it is.
One other aspect, which isn't talked about, are the heat islands created by cities. Where does that heat go? It's not absorbed into the ground.
Further proof of global warming is the permanent migration of flora, and fauna from temperate climates to colder ones.
For example, the Joshua tree is dying off in Joshua Tree NP because of warmer temps. It is showing up farther north.
Bottom line for me is that if one denies science, in anything, that puts them at the same intelligence level as trump.

The fucking North Pole is gone in the summer people, all the icebergs are melting around the planet, and scientists are carefully monitoring places like Greenland and Antarctica to see when continent sized icebergs break off and raise water levels several feet. Whatever your beliefs, the whole planet is melting, the last five years were a new record, and every plant and animal on the planet is facing extinction. The time for being polite and simply sharing your opinions with people who insist all the evidence is a lie is past us.

I'm wondering how many on Hip Forums have any idea what the Nudist is babbling about. This is code used by Neo-Nazis and other fringe far right extremists like Christian identity. The 1483 reference seems to come from the Christian identity camp. If it were 1488, it would mean "Heil Hitler"--H being the eighth letter of the alphabet. But 1983 refers to Christ, the third letter of the alphabet, or sometimes 3 for Trinity. The reverse parantheses )))((( signify echoes. When written (((pocahontas))) they mean the Elizabeth Warren is Jewish (highly improbable) or a "crypto", and that Jewish influence is echoing around the world. But when the echo signs are reversed, it means reverse influence emanating from the 100 million--an obscure reference, but probably referring to Christian martyrs allegedly killed every year. (((little kids))) refers to Jewish kids--"spawn of Satan?"

Can we pretend he isn't babbling on? I mean, I'll stick my head in the sand if you will. lol. I would just as soon pretend he isn't even there. I know... how rude of me. It's just a defense mechanism I'm ashamed to admit I have. I'll just ignore him if he blurts anything out or just pretend he doesn't exist if he's babbling; until he quotes me at which point he will receive a "like" for his trouble, or be ignored; depending on what he says.

Anyway, I was not aware of that @Okiefreak. I think the problem with those sorts of views is that they lend themselves to extreme modes of thinking.

Who has insisted there's no proof of global warming?

Everybody acknowledges the Earth's mean temperature fluctuates.

There are periods of warming and periods of cooling.

  6. And the good news is we're about to enter a period of rapid warming! Put on those bathing suits, everybody!

I wish I understood it all but it's beyond me since my overall intelligence is only somewhere near Mr Trump's.

Could be looking for a rise... if so, success!

Wishful thinking I'm afraid... Let's re-evaluate in 3-4 months while we're huddling by the fire!

  9. Soon winters will be gone. People will flee from the hottest places, because the heat will be too much to take. The ice caps will melt and much of the earth's landmass will be under water. People will begin stockpiling fresh water. They will call it hydro and they will kill for it.

I have no idea what he is talking about. He seems to be nutty. I sure don't want to see him naked.

I don't know if you are serious, but I believe future wars will be fought over water. We already have that, on a miniature scale in the Southwest. Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California all lay claim to the water in the Colorado River.

Sounds like the basis for a new science fiction book. I think people could even buy into the underlying basis if they just forget about rain and the water table. And snow. And frigid temperatures...

  13. He could just write it, of course, on an Earth where there is no potable rain, the water table is poisoned by a nuclear reactor that failed, and there is no snow or frigid temperatures. A place where it is always muggy and hot.

Good point! There's great success with stories of dead flesh staying alive so apparently anything goes.

  15. Oh, it'll just warm up a nice cozy degree or two...what am I saying? And then, in a hundred years, it will go back down a degree or two. And it will just keep on doing this forever, long after humans have come and gone. That's the planet Earth I know.

Climate change is a major issue in the 2020 election.

  19. Bernie Sanders is the only one with the balls to take on the fossil fuel industry and help combat climate change.

I think everyone has noticed a big shift in the climate. Winters are short. Autumn is virtually non-existent. And instead of an easy winter, therefore, it being short, we now have polar vortexes every year that make it impossible to go outside for weeks on end, because you'll freeze to death in minutes. I don't know if they're just making up new words for old phenomena or what, but certainly no one used to talk about it like this.

Seems the weather's actin' funny all over, though "actin' funny" ain't exactly scientific. Just seems you hear a lot of tall tales about the strange weather people claim they been experiencing. Like they say, where there's smoke, there's fire.

There are going to be some major earth changes these next few years, I reckon. It'll be awhile before humanity is finally killed off, though. We had a good thing while it lasted. We don't owe anything to our children, 'cause the last hoorah is the last hoorah.

I have never understood what they want on a Hippy site? Are they trying to change our minds? They sure are going about it the wrong way. The other one don't even want me to live in a commune with my own brothers and sisters.
