I respectfully disagree. Take a look at his record during his administration and all that he's done. That speaks more than volumes. I do, however, agree that he should tone down his language, but what he's done for this country is significantly better than what any other president has accomplished. The argument you make has nothing to do with his performance. On the subject of the COVID-19 crisis, he took faster action than what others thought he could. Pelosi invited people to go to San Francisco for a party in China Town. Biden accused the president of being a racist for shutting down our borders to China. That proved to be a great move according to his medical advisors. Finally, he got all the medical equipment in record time to New York, which Gov. Cuomo of New York never used......and he BEGGED the president for it! No talking points, just facts.

That's fine, but maybe you should be more specifics. Your arguments are weak because you're attacking the person and not the policies. Also, the president will compromise with anyone as long as it is for the benefit of America. Have a good evening.

The President will compromise any principle as long as it gets him ahead. He doesn't seem to give a rats ass about the benefit of America, or any particular policy issue. But he threatens policies that are central to our national existence: the rule of law, democracy, freedom from Russian interference, and rational decision making for the benefit of the common good. The centerpiece of his political essence is personalism: the cult of (his) personality. That's why it's impossible to separate the policies from the man.

First, he doesn't need to get ahead! He didn't need this job! He wanted it because he loves his country!
Second, if he didn't give a rats ass about this country, why did he send the ventilators out, get a ship to New York, get the PPEs to their respective places, set up make shift hospitals, give prisoners a second chance, build the military, make other countries pay their fair share, get the USMCA agreement, begging though on China and Russia, killing terrorists who threaten out country, have the LOWEST unemployment rate among African Americans, Hispanics, a strong economy? There's more, too! You're still talking about his personality which has no bearing on anything!

He's a narcissistic power lover and congenital grifter who wants to be president to further his insatiable quest for fame, fortune and power.

What all has he done? Not much positive. The economy would have been his major claim to fame, but it's in the toilet, thanks to his inept handling of the Covid-19 crisis. His leadership fits the authoritarian pattern--pushy, manipulative, conceited, and selfish.Leadership Lessons from Donald Trump This style has its fans, but is out of step with the mainstream of American democracy. How Trump Embodies The Definition Of A Bad Leader
Trump has faced three major crises in his first term as President: the nuclear threat from North Korea, Covid-19. and the George Floyd protests. He's bungled all three. He tried to resove the first crisis initially by sabre rattling and then by his embarrassing bromance with Kim, sucking up to the tyrant and bolstering his international prestige with little to show for it. Two days ago, Kim vowed to boost his nuclear program, saying that U.S. diplomacy failed.North Korea Vows to Boost Nuclear Program, Saying U.S. Diplomacy Failed
We have a whole separate thread for the Covid crisis. His response parallels that of his dictator buddies Putin and Bolsinaro--an incoherent mix of denial, the blame game and attempts at deflection, leading to a significant drop in his poll numbers. Trump's coronavirus response is a 'denial' of science, experts and facts, John Kerry says His handling of the George Floyd crisis showed a similar pattern. After he emerged from his bunker, he launched a bellicose tweet storm, suggesting with no evidence that the 75 year old man who was pushed to the pavement by police might have been an Antifa conspirator, using police and military to attack peaceful demonstrators in D.C. to clear a path for his photo op with the Bible, and threatening to use the U.S. Armed forces to suppress the protests elsewhere in the country. Let's give him a big F on this component.

Trump presents himself as a populist, although economist Paul Krugman disputes this because his policies favor the rich over the disadvantaged. Opinion | Obama’s War on Inequality Trump's most significant accomplishment in domestic economic policy was to sign on to Paul Ryan's "tax reform", which mainly benefited corporations and the rich at the cost of a bigger debt. The Congressional Budget office predicted that the cuts would add another $1.9 trillion to the debt over the next decade, raising the prospect of cuts in entitlements if Trump wins wins in 2020. After promising to protect Medicare and Social Security, he presented a budget which would have cut the former by $ half a trillion and the latter by over $ 70 billion. His campaign to sabotage the Affordable Care Act has made health care less affordable for millions, at a time when the pandemic makes it more urgent. His environmental policy has been a disaster. pushing the extractive industries by reversing 100 environmental regulations, including not only Obama-era but even Nixon-era poliicies. The Trump Administration Is Reversing 100 Environmental Rules. Here’s the Full List. A running list of how President Trump is changing environmental policy Generally speaking, his policy is to undue everything Obama--and then some.

Trump has reversed 70 years of U.S. foreign policy, substituting a policy based on narrow nationalism, neo-isolationism, economic protectionism, distancing from allies, and cozyness to dictatorships, especially Russia. He unilaterally cancelled the U.S. nuclear deal with Iran, without consulting the other signatories, thereby giving up the right to inspect Iranian nuclear facilities.Trump spurned the advice of U.S. intelligence agencies concerning Russian interference in our elections and accepted instead the view of Vladimir Putin, who he says he trusts. He has undermined the rules-based international order that the United States built over the past seven decades, and has pulled the country out of every manner of multilateral agreement and overseas institution. Although he hasn't started any new wars, trump increased the bombing of Afghanistan, and the conflicts there and in Iraq drag on. He gave Turkey the green light to invade Syria and attack the Kurds who were our loyal allies against ISIS, resulting in 11 thousand Kurdish casualties. He pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord, and forged ahead with his project to build a Wall on the Mexican border, using emergency powers to circumvent Congress, which had specifically said No to the project. Contrary to his campaign promise, chanted at his rallies, Mexico is not paying for the wall. His immigration policy attacked asylum rights and cruelly separated families.

Trump's staff turnover has been considerably higher than that of the past five presidents. Over two-fifths of top-level White House positions have turned over since Trump was inaugurated, almost twice as many as under Obama .Why is Trump’s staff turnover higher than the 5 most recent presidents? Trump has installed loyalists without subjecting them to legally mandated vetting and approval by Congress. Many of those who have been appointed are inexperienced or incompetent temps. Many of those who have been appointed have been notoriously corrupt--the worst since the Grant Administration. Trump promised to “drain the swamp,” but instead he stocked it with alligators--more specifically with donors and former lobbyists, who have used their positions for their personal gain. Over a dozen top appointees, including three Cabinet secretaries have been forced out of office by amid ethics scandals. They let special interest groups and corporations draft their own policy On March 18, 2018, the AP reported that one-third of the 59 people appointed to the EPA by President Trump had direct ties to fossil fuel companies, either as registered lobbyists or as lawyers for chemical manufacturers.

Trump's evident character flaws leave him unable to meet the historic moment - KESQ
Trump’s character flaws are threats to stability and peace

In another of his broken promises, Trump said in 2016 he would unify the nation. Yet he has been the most divisive president in our history. Trump began his political career by exploiting racial and ethnic divisions: first with his birther nonsense, which was essentially an unfounded racist attack on our first African-American president, and then launching his bid for the presidency by that escalator ride ranting about illegal immigrants: “They are not our friend, believe me,” he said, before disparaging Mexican immigrants: “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Next it was Muslims, when Trump called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on." His travel ban on Muslims was substantially modified to get it past the courts, but it was clear Muslims were persona non grata. And then he attacked the Kahns, a Gold Star family
According to an ABC News/Washington Post poll released Sunday morning, 66 percent of respondents said Trump is doing more to divide the country than unite it. The percentage is higher than Presidents George W. Bush or Barack Obama ever received for the same question; both peaked at 55 percent. Poll: Majority of Americans see Trump as divisive Unlike most Presidents, Trump makes no serious effort to broaden his appeal beyond his base. While he enjoys remarkable loyal support from his base, Realclear politics finds they make up on average about 42.5% of voters and they are outnumbered by other voters. It's a remarkably stable 42.5%. Trump is the only president in the history of polling never to get majority approval of the voters. He is basically the President of these voters--mostly red state voters, predominantly white and disproportionately male, elderly, and lacking a college education.

Trumps recent Rose garden rant again highlights the problem with the vocal right wing at the moment – in that they don’t have any solutions to the problems of the world at the moment and going forward – where are the policies where are the substantive ideas?

As pointed out earlier the GOP doesn’t even have a new platform for 2020 they are just using the one from 2016 (hilariously even keeping in references that are critical of the “current president” and “current administration” meaning Obama and his admin who were in office at that time but now seemingly aimed at Trump). And that platform was not exactly big on vision.

There are actual real world problems facing the US and others (covid, employment, climate change etc) and the Republicans seem more interested in politicking, tax cuts for donors, voter suppression, packing the courts, increasing the power of the executive and backing Trump whatever he does.

And you look at the right wingers that come to the site (and in other sites) and they are as equally as vacuous.

    To who? His base??

I don't think anybody wanted any of the changes he's implemented. For example, the Paris Climate Accord. How do you explain to your sixth grader why he's doing that? It's unfathomable!

I think the primary motivation for many of Trump's political maneuvers is political gain at the expense of the American reputation and the people of this country. It isn't just the climate change issue. It's the rhetoric about Charlottesville. The hullabaloo about a wall (how is that even acceptable?).

I find it truly disgraceful, and I doubt it's really what anybody stands for. It's all smoke and mirrors, mostly designed to appease the egos of constituents who are likely undereducated about the underlying issues.

Yo - "Eagle-eye" ....................................What president opened the door to COMMUNIST CHINA years ago???? Who was that???? REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT RICHARD M. NIXON. You remember him - the Watergate criminal who was forced to resign in disgrace.

And who was it that announced on national TV that ........................... "We're going to change our economy from a manufacturing-based economy to a service-based economy." That's when "so-called U.S. companies" raced out of the U.S. to set up sweatshops in COMMUNIST CHINA & other poor countries for the poverty-level labor. Who was that??????? REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN. I watched that speech - so don't try to tell us it's not true.

FACTS ARE A BITCH when trying to spin / lie about who did what. And who enabled what.

Some of us pay attention to politics and see with clear eyes. We have good memories. It WAS NOT Democrats who caused this flood of lost jobs and technology. REAGAN'S speech is also ON VIDEO and AUDIO TAPE.

With Donald J. Rump repeatedly, publicly praising COMMUNIST DICTATORS Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jung Un for their "strong leadership styles" (ruthless dictators) - I think we can all see who Rump would like to emulate.

Recent national polls showed 75% of Americans say we're on the WRONG PATH with RUMP.

The KEY WORD in Rump's base. Many of his base struggled to get through high school. Just listen to so many of them speak on TV. They can't even construct sentences well or make coherent points on subjects. Rump himself referred to Puerto Rico as a country. And thought Finland was part of Russia. Even Rump's niece - a clinical psychologist - says he's incapable of leading the U.S. And she's family to him!!!!
