There is plenty of symbolic violence within a 'peaceful protest' . This violence is the first to
surrender , and this is communicated to the riot police . Then authority lay down its sword and
shield right then and there .

You are correct . Balbus is a poor debater .

I’ll ask again - Do you understand why the right of people to peacefully assemble is in the US constitution?

Yes you know it is there but why?

I’m seeking clarity it is part of debate

So even knowing the same argument you are using has been used by many authoritarian regimes and dictatorships to try and muzzle the opposition has no meaning for you – why not?

So what was so heavy on the camels back that this straw could break it?

"So it's up to black people to give up, or violence will continue to follow them" --to paraphrase a previous post.

If 10 million people were to peacefully assemble to air grievances against the government, a certain amount of those would be left wing jerks, right wing jerks and just plain opportunistic jerks. I'm sure the vast majority would be citizens lawfully expressing their constitutionally guaranteed right to assemble. We're witnessing this now.
There is a saying---"the bad always drives out the good." I've seen it over and over again and it's virtually guaranteed when humans are involved.

But then there are those who for political reasons would try to use the bad to silence the good.

What I propose is what should have taken place back in 1865, and that’s a Truth and Reconciliation Commission just like they had in South Africa after the end of apartheid.

Victims of human rights violations were given a platform in which to speak and air out their grievances and experiences with the police and other local authorities.

Yeah-- and don't forget the actual promise of 40 acres and a mule. That literally would have helped people tremendously.

    WOW What a day

Ella Jones was voted first Black Mayor of Ferguson Mo, That racist piece of crap Rep Steve King lost his re-election bid in Iowa, and Joe Biden has widened his lead over President Trump in a new Monmouth University poll that shows him with an 11-point advantage, confirming two other recent polls that had him up by 10 points, and 11 points.

You said that if peaceful protestors would just stop peacefully protesting we wouldn't have the violence, which is true but seems to undercut the possibility or legitimacy of peaceful protest. With that attitude, we'd all be singing "God Save the Queen!" And then you try to walk away from the logical implications of your statement. If the authorities would give up their abuses, the protests wouldn't be necessary, so I'd say that it's up to the authoritarian power abusers and their followers to give up their evil ways.

Steve King , a U.S. representative from Iowa , of some repute for his mouth , will not
be re-elected having lost in the primary . I reside in his district . He had been respected
enough for his experience and essence of rural practicality . He considers himself the
last ultra-Christian conservative . To his constituents this was not very important . It
was to the others of otherness .

But Biden's lead among eligible voters is growing.

So, still barely moved, he usually hovers around the 45

Even with what was going on up until sunday[/QUOTE]You seem to be talking about his approval rating, not where he stands in comparison with the opposition.
General Election: Trump vs. Biden CNBC Biden 48, Trump 41 Biden +7
General Election: Trump vs. Biden Monmouth Biden 52, Trump 41 Biden +11
General Election: Trump vs. Biden Economist/YouGov Biden 47, Trump 40 Biden +7
You are correct. He has a loyal following of folks much like you who don't seem to be moved by any fact or development. But that following isn't gonna win him the election. There has also been a pretty consistent majority of some 53-55% that disapproves of his performance. And it's the battleground states that count, but Biden seems to be gaining there.https://www.newsweek.com/biden-gain...s-while-leading-nationally-poll-shows-1508457
If we have another election where the Dems win a majority of the popular vote but the Pres squeaks by in the Electoral College , I don't think that would bodes well for the future of our political system.

And is a notorious white supremacist bigot--the "essence of rural practicality"?
You seem to be out of tune.

Thanks. That would be my assessment, too, but I didn't want to sound conceited.
