Lol That assumed reason is of course the most pathetic. You would have a hard time portraying my country to be more pathetic than the state your country is in. So if you want to turn this into an international poopslinging contest you will lose big time.

There is a variety of valid reasons to be interested in the state of the US. You don't have to acknowledge any of them.

The media portraying it as entertainment is predominantly american as well. So that's not on any foreign convo partner either.

 

You know, I do agree with you on that. Because journalism no longer exist in 'murica, imo. Much of the news is considered entertainment news.

 

Neither is a train wreck. Draws some attention though.

 

I'm sure there are still good journalists active in american media. But it may take an effort to see them because of all the biased charged media indeed.

 

It's all in the interpretation of what's important. true or not.

A few reasons I think. First America is a large country and our choices affect everyone. For example if we don't participate in climate change panels as Trump does not we can ruin the world. If we are not friendly to Europe as Trump is not war is a threat. The Netherlands and the Germans have their own secure military communications now because Trump makes them uneasy. And last Trump is a such a rude joke that you don't find people like him in other countries. His supporters here often hint they are angry that they can't vote for such policies. So they do their part by battling people who are too ungrateful to have such freedoms.

I don't think they would have done this 20 years ago. Trump is not 100% of the reason but he is some of it now.

It's too bad really. The old line democrats have clogged this whole thing up. I don't see how Biden can possibly think he's paving the way for Mayor Pete when the opposite is what happened. Unless he's employing the infamous "we have to win it first, then we'll do x and y for you" tactic that has black Americans questioning democrats more than they have in generations. And a lot of their complaints are very real (not like P Diddy's "oppression from one of his mansions" lecture the other day).

The thing is, even with a brokered convention, how will the competent democratic leaders take control of the party and give Trump a real race? Right now it's like democrats are gifting him a second term. Even the media is starting to turn (to save their own necks of course). Mika should have cut to commercial.
