I think that, no matter what else happens, one party will do their best to undo whatever the other party did while in power. Then when the people get sick of their crap they'll elect someone to undo THAT. Repeat endlessly to the benefit of nobody but elected officials and their cronies.

No he didn't. Obama used executive orders (as he has a right to do), and Republicans screamed tyranny. Trump's use of executive orders and extravagant claims of executive privilege have exceeded those of any U.S. President.

Apprently, he seems to see the problem with forcing states to open in a similar light as I do. There's a disconnect in so far as state and federal rights. I think that the federal government can make a suggestion in that regard, but I don't know if in this instance the recommendations will be realistic; like opening too soon in an effort to boost one's economic rankings might be a factor. So I think that discretion is preferred. There should be an option for states to reopen, and though no one is staying closed to spite the president, not a requirement.

 

That's exactly the way the Supreme Court has looked at it over the years: The power to regulate health, safety, and public morals belongs to the individual states. That's what the Tenth Amendment is all about.

Where is the money for a 3rd party? Nothing will happen in America without huge amounts of it. It's almost impossible for a new party to form and advertise itself. Maybe if someone extremely popular like Bernie would do it. But he is the one exception to the rule. Without the true support of either party he was raising millions of dollars and everyone knew who he was. He is too afraid to split the Democratic vote against Trump so he will not.

 

Polls about the popular vote may be encouraging to Biden supporters, but they have little meaning for the election. Who wins the election is determined by electoral votes. In principle, the election could be won with just 23% of the popular vote (in a two-candidate race).
