Not exactly. Incremental improvements in a progressive direction--the difference between liberal and radical. First priorities: remove the cancer and stop the bleeding.

We have a monster in the White House! For supporting evidence, see the Trump Score Card thread.

And if everyone keeps pretending he exists in a vacuum and ignoring what led to his election, we'll have another monster eventually

  5. The answer is simple; Trump. The US is doing horribly since the racist Nazi dictator stole the election from, of all things, a girl!!! It's just horrifying. And look at the economy, a massive depression is right around the corner with Trump funneling money to pipe manufacturers and McDonald's (stupid name recognition thing).

And how was i wrong in stating Biden would at best bring back and continue the ol' status quo IF he wins from Trump? Whereas a Bernie would actually work on the kind of progress the left craves(we all know he can't be as radical as you find him to be. He too is wise enough to compromise).

It seems you're somehow rather content with the worthless democrat party and how the two party system works.
I mean there's no strong indication Biden would win more likely from Trump than Sanders. You simply favor this guy because you think Bernie and his younger supporters are perceived as too radical to win. But if getting rid of Trump would be the main goal of every left leaning American you don't need Biden per se at all.

    1. There is no record of Sanders being a compromiser. We know for a fact that Biden has been a compromiser in both the senate, as as VP.
    2. Electing Biden would get us back to a status quo. There is no status quo with trump.

    Now to answer your question:
    1. look at trump's rollbacks on environmental regulations, and the consequent disasters waiting to happen.
    2. Look at his inability to understand foreign policy, and consequent inability to have a solid foreign policy.
    3. Look at his inability to understand the constitution, and subsequently ignore it.
    4. Look st his lies. Where is his healthcare plan?
    5. Look st his pandering to special interests groups, i.e. The NRA, and various religious groups.
    Need I go on?

You know there is a saying " people don't look kindly on people who want to play god".

I don't look kindly on those who don't look kindly. Now trump wants to fire the head of the consumer protection agency. Yeah--we don't need no stinkin' protection from crooks. Pardoning convicted criminals and members of his so-called administration in the hoosegow? Birds of a feather flock together.

Not really. In order to "work on the kind of progress the left craves" we must first win the general election with long enough coattails to take the Senate and keep the House. I don't think Bernie has as good a chance of doing this as Biden because he has, for a long time, been labelled a socialist, embraced that label (Democratic Socialist being a species of that ideology), put forward a radical program for sweeping change, and proposes to pay for it by taxes on the rich and corporations, who are not without resources to resist the effort. Biden, on the other hand, offers plans for meaningful improvement in such areas as health care and gun control, that I think have a more realistic chance of being implemented.

I'm not at all content with the present party system and how the two party system works, but I don't see that Bernie offers an alternative--unless it's to so divide the Democrats that they dissolve. I find Bernies's plans for electoral reform unrealistic. Overturning Citizens United v. FEC and abolishing PACs would be a good thing, but would require a constitutional amendment which is unlikely. Likewise, ending gerrymandering and redistricting would require constitutional change or favorable court rulings, which are unlikely given Trump's successful efforts to pack the federal judiciary. In sum, I don't sense a revolutionary upsurge in this country just yet to sustain the kinds of changes Bernie is proposing to bring about. I suspect that given a choice between that and Trump, most voters will choose the latter. I don't want to make perfect the enemy of better.

I don't know about the spray cheese, but lots of folks around here are hoarding survival supplies in the expectation of the corona virus getting out of hand.

President Trump is just the latest consequence of this status quo. Sometimes this status quo has a temporary (looking) advantage for the left (Obama for example) and sometimes for the right (like currently). Going 'back' to it changes nothing. Unless it is with a majority of left leaning voters and a candidate that want to break through this worthless status quo. Seems entirely possible... if it weren't for people who are too afraid of any risk. They prefer a 'safe' bet on worthless short term gain above risking a chance of real progress. And it isn't even a safe bet because Biden might very well lose to Trump.

Yes, life is a gamble, and we need to estimate the odds. I think the basic political and economic system in the United States, especially our Bill of Rights, have served us well and produced general prosperity. Some have been left out, and the gap between rich and poor has been growing since the Reagan era, but I think that course can be remedied. I'm personally not ready for the "great leap forward into socialism"., although I think we could benefit from improvements in health care and gun control. Deciding who, if anyone, might beat Trump requires psychic powers, but my own assessment is we stand a better chance with a moderate than a radical.

Oh, I can take care of myself, don't you worry about that. There are those that can't. As asmo mentioned.
