That's what was being discussed ;) And yes, it obviously is. Pure capitalism would be disastrous too though, if not on the people, than definitely on the environment. The deciding factor is always humans, of which an amount will abuse any system. If not both capitalism or communism could be perfect :p Now in reality it seems a system like a socialist democracy with capitalist tendencies seems best as long as it keeps rights, freedoms and power and abuse in check.

This is what we're losing in the US, and both those on the right and left are OK with it...as long as it's their guy in control. When one person can divert billions of dollars from the military and do what's best for "national security", and the people who put him in power are fine with it, we are entering troubling waters.

Fix this and similar problems first. Only then should we be talking about expanding government's authority.

Absolutely. Unfortunately the discussion is capitalism vs communism, and not how both those institutions have been corrupted by greedy humans. The concepts themselves aren't inherently good or bad, only the people manipulating them are

  6. But, that's part of the job function. If a president is not expected to protect the Americans, who is?

With no oversight? Only congress should be deciding something like that. That money had already been appropriated for other programs. Dems do the same type of thing. We're playing with fire and will eventually be burnt.

I'm already expecting it to go to a contested convention if Sanders has the most pledged delegates.
But if the nomination is given to Biden in that case, we can expect 4 more years of Trump and the Democrats are going to lose an entire generation of voters

Congress basically ceded their war powers to the president during the Bush years

Yeah I hear you, WP. But hasn’t that really been the crux of US government institutions since 1783? The tension between branches? I fink so.

"Moscow" Mitch McConnell ceded his goddamn nuts to Trump on day one. I hate that spineless pussy.

  15. Yea, but I question the need at that level. If the Americans are going to have to use home protection arms against an incoming threat, they will not be able to endure for very long. And of course guns are useless against diseased "tourists".

What are we gonna do with you.

  18. Some would call it checks and balances. Or distributed power. I'm still inclined to see class as the biggest threat to most Americans. Government just makes it easier for the upper classes to rob the lower classes legally. There are not many ways to solve that problem. Oddly though, guns would be one of those ways. If the wealthy class realized they might be assassinated by angry villagers for daring to flaunt their wealth, I think we'd see the system change faster.

If the scales of wealth continue to tip, the working people will eventually do what they must to readjust the balance. It is the way of humanity and the elite ignore this at their peril.

  20. Yea, I'm too old and feeble for the shooting part. So I'll just keep broadcasting ICP and Flo-Rida on the empty FM frequencies.
