As in Howard Stern or am I out of the loop?

I really wanted Ventura to run since he said he had no party and talked about conspiracy theories. I don't think he has the support of the system though. People will either see him as a right wing nut for the 9/11 and pro gun talk or a left wing one since he says he hates Republicans. He can't fit into either group.

But the founding fathers had no party they hated them. I admire how Ventura is his own man in that way,

He was gov for a year. That was enough for his constituents and for me. These outsiders are getting boring. Why don't we elect a sane, qualified person for a change.

Could see Howard Stern out trumping Trump. They worked together at NBC. He is not PC enough for the DNC and has skeletons in his closet.

I'm going to see Bernie speak tomorrow, he's in town. He had a town hall today and a rally tomorrow

I wasnt going to go, I saw him speak in 2016 and his message hasnt changed since then. But then I read the comments section of a local news article about how he's in town and it annoyed me greatly because people are so obviously and willfully ignorant yet somehow so smug about it. Smug about being uninformed/misinformed, imagine that. So now i'm going to show support and to remind myself like minded people do actually live around here.

Well I just felt like sharing that

In 1956 The federal Aid Highway Act was passed and signed by President Dwight D Eisenhower which began construction of the Interstate Highway System we're so familiar with today.
It was a bipartisan move which enjoyed support from both Democrats and Republicans as most realized we had everything to gain from this major infrastructure development. Today 62 years after the fact this major investment in our nation continues to pay huge dividends to all Americans.

Sadly , as we look around our nation today she is falling into a state of disrepair. Our roads , dams, bridges and airports are in dire need of repair as there's hardly anyone who can travel at at length and not encounter crumbling highways. Unfortunately we live in a time where bipartisan cooperation is rare if not impossible. No such proposal will be put forth in Congress this year nor next. I'd go further and say it seems unlikely any time over the next decade.

While politicians focus on political jockeying looking for the next beautiful soundbite roads crumble and crack, bridges strain under increasing loads, aging dams wear away, airports function at capacities never intended and life goes on it seems. Our failure to address a crumbling infrastructure is indicative of a greater failure , a failure of the heart and our collective conscience, a failure of a nation as she slips with the rapidity of each passing day into the quagmire of petty factionalism from which there may be no return.

Irving Berlin penned " God Bless America " in 1918 and in the first of two verses he said

    " God bless America,
    Land that I love ,
Stand beside her and guide her
    Through the night with a light from above;

In this verse Berlin conferred upon us a sense that there's something in this life greater than ourselves , that love and respect for our country supersedes the everyday and mundane tasks . It's not what we do for our own glorification and satisfaction but rather it's a legacy we leave behind for future generations that matter. It may be that the American Dream is now only just a dream after all unless that wake up call comes urgently and soon.

A crumbling and fading infrastructure is after all an indicative tell tell sign of deep failures within .

The smugness is because they are afraid. It's not 1970 anymore and simply saying something is "socialist" is not enough anymore to scare voters. So if people can make themselves feel better saying only people who did not live though the Cold War believe this it makes them less nervous. Like they see how he will not go away.

It's really that their own middle class lives are so hard and they only solution they have to that is thinking they can be the 1 in a million guy who has a monopoly on a market. That is the only way they can accept things being affordable for them. They would feel cheated if socialism was actuly an easier way. They have too much invested in the rat race now. Left or right leaning the politician will say he cares for the middle class and hates the rich. It's just a question of how you hate them. Do you do it with tax breaks so they share or taxes?

I think I agree with VG here. I don't think they are going to be able to impeach. I think they'll sure go through the motions though. It just ain't gonna happen without Mueller indicting him of some "high crime" or whatever. Collusion is a crime that we learned about in school as business students. But it seems pretty vague as to whether or not something actually equates collusion. So, that's going to be hard to prove without cooperation from either him or Russia. I think everything so far has been from third parties though so it's basically hearsay and he said she said. I wish there were a real good way to prove high crime.

Some points to keep in mind: (1) there is no crime of collusion. There is a crime of conspiracy, which requires proof of several elements beyond a reasonable doubt. (2) The standards for an impeachable offense are much vaguer than those for regular crimes: "Treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. " What does "misdemeanors' mean? According to Gerald Ford, anything a majority of the House of Representatives says it means. According to Nixon, and indictable offense. According to Bill Clinton, an indictable offense that's directly related to a President's duties in office. (3) Impeachment requires a two-thirds vote by both houses of Congress, and in today's polarized atmosphere that would be tantamount to a miracle. (4) Congress does not need to go the impeachment route in order to continue investigations that bring to light details of the Mueller report and other scandals involving the Trump Administration.

I didnt get to see ol' Bernard speak today, he packed the auditorium and 2 overflow rooms by the time I got there, and the public square outside the venue was also full of people. Not bad for a democratic socialist in a conservative southern city during a tornado watch

Purely market based and libertarian economies don’t really provide for public goods like infrastructure. There really is a community interest and denying it leads to a system that only works for the wealthy and powerful. In a complex society government plays a vital role. The tea party and others of similar vein only engorge the selfish and elite at the expense of everyone else. I want my neighbors kids to be well educated!...by quality public education.
