Healthcare is great. The social democracies of Europe have a lot to offer. If it were just that, I'd have no problem. But health care is only one of the wonderful programs Warren and Sanders are offering, and with health care Americans who are satisfied with their current plans are wondering where they'll end up if those are no longer available. Warren makes no bones about major redistributive change and "restructuring" of American institutions. This may have great appeal to college-age progressive millennials, but trust me, it doesn't play well in middle America. What Warren is calling for is a peaceful revolution. Lord knows, we need one, but I'm not seeing grassroots support for that. With all her plans, she hasn't yet come up with a clear plan for paying for all the changes except "soak the rich". Where is the political base that will give her the majorities in both houses of Congress to bring all this about? I personally have no problem with any of it, but my own priority is getting rid of the disaster in the White House, and I'm afraid that once the Republican propaganda machine goes into full swing, neither Warren nor Sanders will make it to the finish line get the chance to implement a single one of those ambitious programs.

    I am middle america.
Why would middle america care about major redistribution changes? If they're against programs that will be paid for by a marginal tax on wealth over a certain amount and a tax on wall street speculation, then they've just fallen for republican propaganda too. We're talking about taxes that wouldnt affect middle america in any way.

And I've said before and I guess I'll say again, progressive proposals poll well. Progressive politicians are polling well too.

Elizabeth Warren has outlined how to pay for all her proposals. Of course a democratic majority would be needed to pass them but that goes without saying.

We just keep having the same argument too. I think you're wrong on this.

Hmmmm. Your use of the term "socialist" is always slippery, but if we include the social democracies of Scandanavia and western Europe, they seem to do a better job than the U.S. The U.S. does poorly in comparison with other OECD countries. How does the quality of the U.S. healthcare system compare to other countries? - Peterson-Kaiser Health System Tracker

Among 11 countries, US ranks last for health outcomes, equity and quality: Among 11 countries, US ranks last for health outcomes, equity and quality
A group that bashes U.S. health care every year has a new zinger
There are fewer physicians per person in the U.S.than in most other OECD countries. In 2010, for instance, the U.S. had 2.4 practicing physicians per 1,000 people — well below below the OECD average of 3.1.Of course, Bernie, being a prominent national politician and celebrity would get the best of those, but still.
As for real socialist countries, the comparison might be misleading, since most of them are developing countries. But health care in Cuba is not too shabby:

He has not said he is not running. That's just what people who fear his idea want. I mean we all knew he was an old man and health concerns are present.

He still has the same amount of supporters and we will all hope he gets well and runs. With a strong VP of course. One we can count on to respect his goals if the reaper comes.

  10. True, but needing a stent is serious shit. Better think really hard about who his running mate might be. Wouldn't it be interesting is it was Abrams. She couldn't get elected governor thanks to her canvassing crew, but maybe she can jump over a wide array of hurdles and be president!!!!

With the president Trump set I don't think one needs politcal expericne anymore to have a politcal job. Trump could not get elected a few times. He mentioned running for an office several times always always as a boost to ego and failed at lower ranking political runs. Then he got the manager of Wendy's without working the grill.

Bernie is an old war horse who should be put out to pasture. He's been falling apart for the last ten years, and that's never a good sign.

His health is scrutinized so much. I admit this is a large one but it's also something that could happen at any moment to the current president who is overweight, old, and has a history of stimulant drug use. These people never doubt him for 2020. It's a double standard: both are old men about to die.

Pushing 80 is just pushing the limits of the human body. Ten years younger, and it wouldn't be an issue, but about 83 years old is about as long as any normal person lasts. You get exceptions to the rule, but even they don't attempt to continue working except in rare cases.

LOL, the assholes have already overplayed their infantile hand, and even Fox News is calling Donald Duck a traitor. Not because Fox has a spine, but because civil war is not something anyone other than die hard republicans want.
