Nevada Leads U.S. in Cases; Russia Deaths Rise: Virus Update

Nevada is reporting the highest rate of new Covid-19 cases in the U.S., just as Las Vegas prepares for an influx of visitors over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Russia reported record deaths from Covid-19 for a fifth consecutive day. In Indonesia, new cases reached the highest levels to date. The U.K. plans to end quarantine measures for those who have been fully vaccinated, the Times reported.

Tokyo reported the highest number of infections since May, less than three weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. South African regulators conditionally approved Sinovac Biotech Ltd.’s vaccine, the first Covid shot developed by a Chinese company to be sanctioned locally.

    The Boris Announcement: (England)
    The Change/s that's gonna come:-
(Based on the figures (not yet available)
    • Acknowledgement that the Vaccination programme is not yet complete
    • Acknowledgement that COVID will always be with us.
    • Acknowledgement that figures are still on the rise (and "Deaths are inevitable")
    • Acknowledgement that Winter could be tricky, - with/where influenza awaits - and possible Booster jabs required
    • Acknowledgement that it's a Gamble/Risk
    So -
    • Social distancing to end - Bubbles to end
    • Night clubs to re-open - (folks to freely mix in an enclosed space (?!?))
    • Encouragement to 'Get back to work': "Your economy needs you"
    • Face masks no longer a requirement: Down to the choice - and conscience - of the individual
    • Let's hope for the best
    Thoughts ???

It seems to me a cutting of corners - either by ignorance, or arrogance - IMO

My thought is I really wish these decisions were driven by science not politics or economics.

In Arkansas, Covid-19 cases surge as state combats vaccine skepticism

Officials in the state are pulling out the stops to get people vaccinated. Arkansas not only has one of the lowest vaccine rates in the country -- only about a third of eligible people are fully vaccinated -- but is facing a troubling uptick in Covid-19 cases - fueled mostly by the emerging Delta variant of the virus.

The reasons that experts say people aren't getting the vaccine in Arkansas are varied. They cite pregnant women who are concerned about the impact of the vaccine on them and their unborn children, or people who want to see further FDA approval of the vaccines beyond the current emergency use authorizations.

But there are also those who believe in conspiracy theories about the vaccine, the experts said.
