SpongeBob SquarePants’ With Virus Storyline Pulled by Nickelodeon

An episode titled “Kwarantined Krab” has been pulled from the SpongeBob SquarePants catalogue before its airing in the U.S.

From the current 12th season, it focuses on a virus, and has been deemed too similar to what’s been going on with COVID-19. “We have decided to not air it due to the sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic,” a Nickelodeon spokesperson said in a statement.

In the episode, the Health Inspector finds “Clam Flu” at the Krusty Krab restaurant and everyone inside must quarantine. Those suspected of being infected are put in the freezer.

“I would ask you — because I’m addicted to truth, logic and common sense, and my common sense meter would demand the answer to — why weren’t we shut down for COVID-1 through -18?” ~ Ted Nugent

This new coronavirus variant is a bitch.

India recorded more than 350,000 cases on Monday, a world record for one county in a single day, and health experts believed the true figure was much higher.

Plus 2,800 confirmed deaths and again the number is believed to be higher.

Six more Olympic torch staffers diagnosed with COVID-19

Six additional Olympic torch staffers have tested positive for COVID-19, Reuters reported.

Tokyo 2020 said in a statement on Saturday that the six people helped out on the relay portion in the southern prefecture of Kagoshima on Tuesday.

Two other Olympic staffers have tested positive for the virus earlier in April. Olympic organizers said that the sick staffers assisted on traffic control and wore masks in two other cities of the country, according to Reuters.

This comes as Japan declared a state of emergency last month for major cities and populations of Tokyo and Osaka to contain the fourth wave of infections. Olympic organizers have urged Japan’s citizens to comply with COVID-19 guidelines, according to Reuters.

The Tokyo 2020 games will begin on July 23 after being delayed a year due to the pandemic.

Note to self: never hike where the bodies of other hikers are used as landmarks.

Indian doctors warn against cow dung as COVID cure

Doctors in India are warning against the practice of using cow dung in the belief it will ward off COVID-19, saying there is no scientific evidence for its effectiveness and that it risks spreading other diseases.

The coronavirus pandemic has wrought devastation on India, with 22.66 million cases and 246,116 deaths reported so far. Experts say actual numbers could be five to 10 times higher, and citizens across the country are struggling to find hospital beds, oxygen, or medicines, leaving many to die for lack of treatment.

In the state of Gujarat in western India, some believers have been going to cow shelters once a week to cover their bodies in cow dung and urine in the hope it will boost their immunity against, or help them recover from, the coronavirus.
