Since that number was included in the daily briefing I suspect those 228 deaths were within the past 24 hours.

Just because you employ the tactic of avoidance when confronted with indisputable facts and evidence, it doesn't mean everyone else does.

You say indisputable facts when it's obvious now you have no idea across what time frame those 228 are from

A rather disputable fact wouldn't you say

It's not going to be from the last 24 hrs if you have not hit over 40 a day in 4 months

Ok, now I'll be watching this one with interest, not just becuase its my country, but to watch just how quickly this thing spreads in a country with such a high life expectancy, it's also already getting pretty hot coming into an Australian summer

This is already the same number of cases that spurred what happened in Melbourne months ago

"South Australia continues to grapple with the beginning stages of a second wave after its coronavirus cases jumped again.

There are now 20 cases linked to the Parafield family cluster with 15 of those coming from the same family.

The family cluster includes three young children, one of which is a one-year-old-baby, Premier Steven Marshall confirmed this morning.

Overall the state recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases yesterday and one new case this morning, for a total of 35 active cases, including hotel quarantine cases.

At least three of the 34 active cases are employees at the Anglicare Brompton Aged Care Home in Adelaide, which the CEO of Anglicare SA this morning described as his “worst nightmare”.

A new study shows that coronavirus immunity may last longer than previously thought.

How long might immunity to the coronavirus last? Years, maybe even decades, according to a new study — the most hopeful answer yet to a question that has shadowed plans for widespread vaccination.

Eight months after infection, most people who have recovered
still have enough immune cells to fend off the virus and prevent illness, the new data show. A slow rate of decline in the short term suggests, happily, that these cells may persist in the body for a very, very long time to come.

The research, published online, has not been peer-reviewed or published in a scientific journal. But it is the most comprehensive and long-ranging study of immune memory to the coronavirus to date.

“That amount of memory would likely prevent the vast majority of people from getting hospitalized disease, severe disease, for many years,” said Shane Crotty, a virologist at the La Jolla Institute of Immunology who co-led the new study.

U.S. death toll nears 250,000 in wake of deadliest day since early May

After witnessing its deadliest day since early May, the United States will soon have recorded more than 250,000 fatalities from the coronavirus. Nearly 1,900 deaths were reported on Wednesday,
as the nation again set a record for the number of patients hospitalized nationwide.

Infectious-disease experts estimate that more than 3 million people in the United States are currently infected with the coronavirus, the equivalent of about 1 percent of the population or the total number of public
school teachers in the country. More than 11.5 million cases have been reported nationwide since February, according to data tracked by The Washington Post.

Its keeps getting better and better, a whole lot of drama because one guy, one guy lied because he wanted to hang on to his job

Pizza worker’s ‘customer’ lie caused 6-day lockdown, but he won’t be charged
Police are stationed outside the pizza bar at the centre of SA’s lockdown controversy, with tempers running hot after a staffer lied to contact tracers.

Police have been stationed outside an Adelaide pizza bar after it was revealed South Australia’s six-day shutdown was sparked by a lie that nobody would be punished for.

Premier Steven Marshall said he was “fuming” after it was revealed on Friday a worker with coronavirus lied to contact tracers, with authorities now fearful of retaliation against the business.

Mr Marshall said the man was one of the cases linked to the Woodville Pizza Bar, and told authorities he was a customer.

However, after the state was sent into a six-day lockdown, it was discovered he was instead an employee who had worked several shifts.

“To say that I am fuming about the actions of this individual is an understatement,” Mr Marshall said.

“The selfish actions of this individual have put our whole state in a very difficult situation.

“His actions have affected businesses, individuals, family groups and it is completely and utterly unacceptable.”

The premier said he would review public health laws, which do not allow for the man to be charged.

“We need to send a strong message to people who are putting the South Australian public in such a difficult situation because of their lies,” he said.

UK COVID-19 deaths reach 598 in one day, the most in six months

COVID-19 deaths in the UK have risen by 598 in the biggest 24-hour jump in more than six months.

Cases hit 1.4 million on Tuesday as another 20,051 people tested positive for coronavirus.

Tuesday‘s death toll is the highest since May 12, over six months ago – when the daily figure reached 614.

But while case numbers seem to be flattening, the 20,052 figure today pushed Britain’s case total over the 1.4 million mark.

And with nearly 600 additional deaths in the last 24 hours, the total death toll stands at 52,745.

The NSW government has allowed debt collectors to go after returning travellers whose hotel quarantine bills have become overdue.

Outstanding debts from mandatory stays in NSW hotels amount to $27 million, figures released to ABC News under freedom of information laws reveal.

Out of the debts, 644 invoices totalling more than $2 million are so overdue that authorities have issued debt recovery orders, which empower officials to take actions like seizing property and taking a cut off wages.

The figures also show just 4156 out of a total of 43,684 returnees have paid their debts for hotel stays. That’s just under 10 per cent.

US Coronavirus: The country recorded 195,000 new Covid-19 cases in a day. An expert says spread is now 'faster' and 'broader' than ever

Almost every state has reported a rapid surge in cases and nationwide numbers have been climbing much faster than ever before -- with the country reporting a staggering 2.7 million infections since the beginning of the month.

On Friday, more than 195,500 new infections were reported -- the country's highest for a single day, and far beyond what the nation was seeing just weeks ago. The highest number of single-day cases during the country's summer surge was a little more than 77,100 in July, Johns Hopkins University data show.

The US on Friday also recorded its highest number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals on a given day: 82,178

    Yep, yep, yep

    The perfect meme

Wear a mask becuase the only way the virus can enter your system is via the bottom half of your face

A lockdown is an admission by your government that they know full well masks are never going to work in the long run

In the uK anyway ,I think that is true. There are far too many walking around in supermarkets including staff wearing a little exemption Sun flower pass. AS if Covid will recognise this . It only needs one of these to sneeze in the store and my mother on law could be at risk as we are shielding her . Just my opinion unless is 100% compulsory then its not worth implementing. These people tend to be the most vulnerable types themselves ie astmatics etc.
