New Mexico at ‘breaking point’ as U.S. shatters coronavirus case record again

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) said the state is at a “breaking point” and reinstated the country’s most restrictive statewide measures since the fall surge began, while Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D)
announced a two-week statewide “freeze” on Friday, which included curbing gatherings ahead of Thanksgiving.

Other states are trying to avoid full-blown shutdowns by enacting almost every other kind of restriction, as the United States reported more than 177,000 new coronavirus cases, a record high for the third straight day.

Dude, you are in the UK, which just broke the record for number of cases in one day ever on Nov 12th: 33,000. Since you have 1/5th of the population of the US, if you times that by 5, it would be equivalent to the US getting 165,000 in one day. So you are doing a lot worse than them

And you are back up over 500 deaths a day

100,000 excess non Covid deaths in the US from shutting down "non essential" surgery....and the same kind of figures are also worse per capita in your country, 30,000

Are you going to blame Trump and Republicans on the other side of the world for all that?

UK is set to be up around the 1500 deaths a day by mid January, at least 50% worse than last April, but 2500 deaths a day wouldn't surprise me

Exactly what I said like 8 months ago, twice as bad as April, minus 3 times the entire NHS budget in tax revenue in one year, 2/3 of the population never really gave enough of a fuck, all your government bean counters would have seen it coming, your idiot government health spokepersons will still be on about masks in January knowing full well they were never going to stop the virus

Three guesses what age demographic bears the brunt of a broke health system trying to cope with a twice as bad as April Covid epidemic. You did it to yourselves

    Timeline of Events
    • [IMG] On January 31, HHS declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency in the US
As of Jan. 31, the Wuhan coronavirus is officially a public health emergency in the United States, Alex Azar, secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announced at a White House press briefing.
    • [IMG] On Jan. 31, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a federal quarantine for 14 days affecting the 195 American evacuees from Wuhan, China. Starting Sunday, Feb. 2, U.S. citizens, permanent residents and immediate family who have visited China's Hubei province will undergo a mandatory 14 days quarantine and, if they have visited other parts of China, they would be screened at airports and asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. The last time the CDC had issued a quarantine was over 50 years ago in the 1960s, for smallpox.
    • [IMG] President Donald Trump signed an order on Jan. 31 for the U.S. to deny entry to foreign nationals who traveled to China within the preceding two weeks, aside from the immediate family of U.S. citizens.
    • On Jan. 30, the CDC had confirmed the first case of person to person transmission in the U.S.: [12] the husband of the Chicago, Illinois case who had returned from Wuhan, China on Jan. 13 and who tested positive for the virus on Jan. 24).
    • CDC stated on Jan. 30 that "It is likely there will be more cases of 2019-nCoV reported in the U.S. in the coming days and weeks, including more person-to-person spread."[12]
    • The virus had been confirmed in 5 states.
    • On Jan. 31, New York City health officials vehemently denied the rumor regarding a coronavirus case in the city .[13]. On Feb. 1, however, the city's health commissioner did report that there was a test being performed on a person under 40 who had returned from China, developed matching symptoms, and tested negative to the seasonal flu.
    • Most US patients had recently visited Wuhan.

This is a good time to mention that the promising vaccine for COVID-19 will be available to us soon as a result of the efforts of two Muslim Doctors, not the effort of Trump and his Republican science deniers. Dr. Ugur Sahin and Dr, Ozlem Tureci are Muslims and citizens of Germany who originally came from Turkey. The are scientist and are married. They were the driving force behind Pfizer and Biontech, they companies which developed the new vaccines for this horrible pandemic which Donald Trump claimed to be a Hoax conjured up by Democrats. Muslims are good and smart. Republicans are bad and stupid!

What was the date of Trump's speech where he claimed COVID-19 to be a Democrat Hoax? What was the date of Trump's speech when he told children don't die from it? What was the date of Trump's claim where he told Hydroxychloroquine was a cure for COVID-19? What was the date when Trump told you to drink bleach?

The 90% just refers to those that didn't get infected from one exposure in a trial that ethically had to use young people

It gives no indication how effective it will be in the real world with combating thousands of exposures per day

Won't stop people from dying if it doesn't stop exposure

100,000 excess non Covid deaths, vs 250,000 Covid deaths, half of whom were so old they would we dead by now

You are trading almost 1 for 1

And it's exactly the fault of people that think the way you and Vlad do

The whole world fucked up, all the ones in the nursing homes, if people actually gave a crap, they should have been moved and seperated from the beginning, that's what the Chinese did in Wuhan

COVID-19 and Excess All-Cause Mortality in the US and 18 Comparison Countries

Table 1. COVID-19 Mortality in the US Compared With That of Other Countries

Table 2. Excess All-Cause Mortality in the US Compared With That in Other Countriesa

"In the 14 countries with all-cause mortality data, the patterns found for COVID-19–specific deaths were similar for excess all-cause mortality (Table 2). In countries with moderate COVID-19 mortality, excess all-cause mortality remained negligible throughout the pandemic. In countries with high COVID-19 mortality, excess all-cause mortality reached as high as 102.1/100 000 in Spain, while in the US it was 71.6/100 000. However, since May 10 and June 7, excess all-cause mortality was higher in the US than in all high-mortality countries"

In other words, a high non Covid excess death rate correlated strongly with countries with a high Covid mortality rate, and June through to September, the US had the highest non Covid excess mortality rate out of all OECD countries. All these countries had shut down "non essential" surgeries

Heart disease deaths soar in England during Covid pandemic

Almost 5,000 more people in England have died from heart problems than would be expected since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, a charity has said.

UK 'excess' death toll rises to around 62,100

There were around 62,100 more deaths in the UK between the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of last month than during the same period last year, the Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI) estimates.

This is up from the 61,400 'excess deaths' reported by the CMI last week, with mortality 6% higher between 24 October and 30 October (week 44) in England and Wales than during the corresponding week for 2019.

The increase was also 6% in week 43, and 2% in week 42, with the number of deaths with COVID-19 mentioned on the death certificate increasing from under 100 in week 37, to 1,379 in week 44.

Based on figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the CMI's latest update estimates that the cumulative mortality improvement in England and Wales for 2020 was -10.7% on 30 October, compared to +0.1% on 20 March.

“ONS data shows that mortality continues to be higher than in the same period in 2019, but the rise in excess deaths is much more gradual than during the first wave of the pandemic," said Cobus Daneel, chair of the CMI Mortality Projections Committee.

    Today

Nightingale hospitals are treating fewer than 30 patients

Fewer than 30 people are currently being treated in Nightingale hospitals, despite the recent rise in Covid-19 hospital admissions.

Only one of the seven facilities across the country is open, with two more ‘ready to take patients’ if needed.

The 750-bed Nightingale in Manchester is caring for a few dozen patients who have now tested negative for the coronavirus but are in need of step-down care after a stay in hospital.
