Yeah they raise it for the fur, it is a huge export business because 1. Danish mink fur is considered the highest quality in the world due to our high animal welfare standards.
    2. there arent that many countries that are producing/breeding/raising mink.

Government says it's only temporararily but for a minimum of one year, however the industry (and frankly logic) says otherwise, because when you have to kill all the animals that means that you are setting the industry 1-2 generations back at least, since in order to start all over again they will have to fing the right initial breeding animals, and not just one male and one female, cause that obviously would create some issues with inbeeding, that just aint good nor right.

So far only 12 people has been registreded with this mutation of the rone, 11 og them all has something to do with mink farms and live in the same area, however the last person has nothing to do with mink and lives far away from any mink farms, how that person got it they just don't know.

I must admit, my first thoughts was 1. How do you know it is in hte mink the mutation happens?, 2.is there any particular reason for why it is happening in mink and not othere animals, I mean we know that other animals can get it and transfer it to humans and vice versa.

Thanks for the update on the Mink crisis. Sorry to hear that. Sorrier to hear they are an industry. I thought fur was a no-no in these times. But then again I live in the tropics and don't have a need for such warm clothing.

That’s fascinating, the only other similar example I think of was back in the 1980s when mink on a farm in the western united states began exhibiting signs of encephalopathy.

It was during the height of mad cow disease in the UK, and since mink were fed downer cattle, naturally the first suspect was cows that were sick with BSE.
Once that was ruled out the next suspect was sheep possibly infected with Scrapie’s. That too was quickly ruled out and since no other cause was found,
the entire herd of mink which numbered in the thousands were culled.

The last time Donald Trump even mentioned the coronaviris outbreak in the United States was during a super-spreader rally when he repeated the words
covid, covid, covid, that's all the mainstream press wants to talk about. covid-19. ......

US tops 125,000 daily coronavirus infections -- a record high

The United States set a new record on Friday when it surpassed 125,000 daily coronavirus infections, while Covid-19 hospitalizations continued to climb, prompting health experts to issue dire predictions.

Friday saw at least 125,596 new coronavirus cases -- the highest single day reporting since the pandemic began. It also marked the third straight day the country has surpassed 100,000 daily coronavirus cases.
Besides the new case numbers, by Friday evening there had been at least 1,137 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Additionally, more than 54,000 Americans are hospitalized with Covid-19, with about 11,000 of them in intensive care,

Now that Trump is out, hopefully there will be some common sense with Covid rather than everyone just trying to say the opposite of whatever Trump said

Yes, it was always going to slowdown in summer, come back to bite you in the arse in winter

Yes US doesn't have the same population distribution as Europe, yes it's going to be 2 to 3 times worse in Europe than US

Yes, it is hitting Hispanics with a genetic lineage to the Iberian peninsula almost twice as bad as any other race

    Spain, Portugal, France are screwed

I think the holidays are a joke. The decorations for the mall are going up and Black Friday will be on after Thanksgiving and probably even before a little. CoViD will of course be spreading. Families will ignore distancing. And with the election in the news, everything else is going to be in one ear and out the other; especially holiday CoViD-19 warnings.

On monday I look forward to President-Elect Joe Biden’s presentation of his new coronavirus task-force.

    Who's in, and who's out.

As for Dr. Scott Atlas who openly promotes herd immunity, don’t let the door hit you on the way out..........

The Navajo Nation is experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases

. The nation has recorded 12,571 total cases and 593 deaths from the coronaviris since it first began.

The Navajo Nation, under a weekend lockdown, is averaging more than 100 new daily cases for the first time since early June, when the reservation was coming down from a crippling outbreak.

The nation, which stretches across much of northeastern Arizona and into parts of Utah and New Mexico, reported 124 new coronavirus cases and two new deaths on Saturday.

A 56-hour curfew was in effect this weekend “due to the uncontrolled spread of Covid-19 in 29 communities on the Navajo Nation,” Jonathan Nez, the Navajo president, said in a statement released on Sunday.

Remember, France has 1/5th the population the US does, so this would be like hearing, the US had 430,000 new cases in one day

FRANCE has recorded its highest ever number of covid-19 cases as 90,000 tested positive for the virus in a single day.

The country is gripped by a second wave of coronavirus as the figure of 86,852 cases reported on November 7 was a record high for the third consecutive day.

France sees 90,000 Covid cases in a day as country gripped by 2nd wave

Now they found out that the mutation might have died since it hasn't been found in 5 weeks, mink farms still have to shut down and kill all animals government says even though it's illegal for them to give that order

HUD Secretary Ben Carson tests positive for coronavirus

Carson attended an election watch party at the White House on Tuesday night and, days later, tested positive for the virus on Monday morning.

He is in good spirits and feels fortunate to have access to effective therapeutics which aid and markedly speed his recovery,” said HUD deputy chief of staff Coalter Baker.

Carson's diagnosis comes several weeks after other members of the Trump administration, including President Trump himself, tested positive for COVID-19. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows also recently tested positive.

The Brazilian clinical trial for a high-profile Chinese Covid-19 vaccine has been suspended after health authorities reported a "severe adverse" incident.

Brazilian health regulator Anvisa said it took place on 29 October, but did not give further details.

The Sinovac vaccine is one of several in final-stage testing globally.

But China has already been using it to immunise thousands of people at home in an emergency use programme.

There was no immediate response from Sinovac.

Brazil has been one of the countries worst affected by coronavirus, recording more than 5.6m confirmed cases - the third highest tally in the world after the US and India - and nearly 163,000 deaths so far, according to data collated by Johns Hopkins University.

Looks like Pfizer at least for the moment has the upper hand on the coronavirus vaccine

Pfizer’s Early Data Shows Vaccine Is More Than 90% Effective

Pfizer announced positive early results from its coronavirus vaccine trial, cementing the lead in a frenzied global race that has unfolded at record-breaking speed.

The drug maker Pfizer announced on Monday that an early analysis of its coronavirus vaccine trial suggested the vaccine was robustly effective in preventing Covid-19, a promising development
as the world has waited anxiously for any positive news

The company said that the analysis found that the vaccine was more than 90 percent effective in preventing the disease among trial volunteers who had no evidence of prior coronavirus infection.
If the results hold up, that level of protection would put it on par with highly effective childhood vaccines for diseases such as measles. No serious safety concerns have been observed, the company said.

Pfizer plans to ask the Food and Drug Administration for emergency authorization of the two-dose vaccine later this month, after it has collected the recommended two months of safety data.
By the end of the year it will have manufactured enough doses to immunize 15 million to 20 million people, company executives have said.

    COVID-19 Update:

135,574 new cases and 1,345 new deaths

Coronavirus hospitalizations in US reach an all-time high with more than 60,000

With the number of coronavirus cases in the United States skyrocketing, many health experts warned the total number of people hospitalized in a given day would rise too.

On Tuesday, the number of people with Covid-19 at US hospitals for the first time topped 60,000.
The COVID Tracking Project, a volunteer organization that compiles data on coronavirus cases, said the number as of Tuesday was 61,694. That's 2,024 more people than were hospitalized on April 15, the previous record.

The United States currently averages about 1,661 new hospitalizations per day, the organization's data shows.
