I communicated to my school they should swap classes to online format and asked my professor if the school will enact a lenient attendance policy for this situation.

Firstly stop panicking.
Secondly, you need to understand that when YOU get sick that YOU will need to do ONLINE classes.
Thirdly, don't protest all the time as they will withdraw you from the course.

 

I feel like people aren't taking it seriously enough though.

Who knows how many people died? And even just the thought of not being very sick but passing it on to someone whose grandma gets pneumonia... not cool

6% is insanely high if that's true. That would make it around 60 times more deadly than the Flu. That's probably extremely high because some countries are really bad at testing people.
