I think they had a somewhat commercialized woodstock a while back, and I think it went to total shit.

No doubt it’s been over commercialized but it’s still the Rosetta Stone of Hipdom

I've been to a couple of gatherings in the past and when I happen to stop going, started reading about horrible things going on at gatherings...has it cleaned up now?

It's always been free and messy , and you get to choose your bliss . I
like my bliss bowl and spoon dangling from a clippy on a belt-loop .
    News is the snooze .

That could very well happen. That Forest Service region, Rgion 8, has a history of friction with the Rainbow Family. Into heavy law enforcement.

I thought that Trump had arranged with Kim Jon for everyone to be invited to hold the party in North Korea,
    Free haircut included.

Here you can find banjo up-dates from the Georgia forest : Southern Appalachian Gathering 2018

Yes , LEO's been on the hunt , awarding tickets , and the federal judge dismisses such stupid harassment
as dog-off-leash and dusty license plate . The County Sheriff is boss in Georgia . Even the Feds have been
deputized . Politics are very local .

We also be wary of the Rainbow Nazis . They may be offered a polite hand-shake as a good-bye you won't
return - never a hug . And not a hand from me . This is not a feeling of hate or punishment . I desire they be
abolished , not that I care to be confident of such power .

    A Rainbow Nazi is coldly , pseudo-liberally political .
    Liberal being passionately free-thinking .

And Drainbows. They're people who attend the gatherings just to take and not give.

I attended the last 2 gatherings, 2016 in Vermont and 2017 here in Oregon. Hey I appreciated the free food and water but I also gave, in the form of tokes off the pipe, a beer for my neighbors, and I took part in the trade circle where I ended up giving away nearly all the shit I brought to barter. It was hot and dusty there and I had a spray bottle filled with water and I'd sit by the trail and offer people spritzes of water in the face, which they much appreciated. Just get into the spirit of sharing with everyone and roughing it couldn't be more pleasant.

Won't be going this year but I'm sure I haven't seen my last one.
