i used to believe pretty strongly in the shift, but realize now that nothing is for certin....who knows what tommarow brings. bottom line is, a pure heart and a strong spirit will get you through anything be it some kind of planetary shift... your own death ...or another day behind the veil.

i would love something to happen, and something will happen, the planets will line up... which is pretty spectacular, i would love to think that something big will happen on earth as well, but i wouldn't like to predict or guess, just wait and see.... :)

I think it was probably just some silly religous belief that the Mayans had, and that world will still be spinning well beyond 2012.

you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. it's not only a maya belief, and it doesn't say the world will stop spinning...

In 2012 I'll be 28...still in pretty good shape to survive if the system crashes.
Frankly, I'm kinda routing for it.
I've studied the occult and paranormal a long time...ten years...and I've found a staggering amount of things all pointing toward that date being something big. Of course, sometimes these things work in odd ways...and something HUGE may happen, but only a handful of us may even notice it...but I think there is a chance the system will finally collapse that day, and I look forward to it. Once things collapse, whoever is left will be in one global community...no more greed and mass consumerism and tv and all that...just survival and nature.

Y2K was actually supposed to happen but was prevented luckily by this organization of people like computer technicians working many months before trying to fix the problem. I wish i could give you more detail about it if i could remember but not alot of people know that y2k wasnt a conspiracy

Look around folks...the mayan long count comes and goes...and alwasy has. It just marks another day on the calender. The magnetic field has flipped countless times throughout the life span of the earth and life kept right on living. All endings are personal. The after death descent into hell pictured in most religous books are the death dreams of the soul (e.g. the Tebetian Book of the Dead).

not only that...... people said that the world was going to end sept 9, 1999 as well..... because its the inverse of the number of the beast... the world was supposed to end on june 6th 1966 as well....... and even before that, it was supposed to end in 1666..... and it hasnt happened, obviously.

IM not talking about the computer glitch either....... the chinese calendar ended at the year 2000, plus people thought jesus was going to return 2000 years after he was born.....

'the mayan long count comes and goes...and alwasy has'

this is the closest to what i think

from what ive read, the mayans had several calendars - the tzolkin, the haab, and the tun uc being the 3 main ones. the tzolkin is a 260 day cycle and multiples of these cycles are given different names. a tun, a baktun, and i forget what else. anyway, the largest cycle they concieved of was the galactic cycle, which is going to roll over like your cars speedo in dec 2012, and start counting another galactic cycle. so its not like their calendar ENDS, it just starts again. supposedly there is supposed to be some sort of cosmic awakening of the people in conjunction with it, be we are so effing stupid that i doubt were going to wake up in 7 years. Perhaps its when the aliens return to earth. one of their calendars follows the pleiades (sp?) ; some people think that aliens came and gave them their knowledge, or something like that. anyway i'm just a hack - i only know this shit because i was reading on the lunar calendar one day.

For a "hack" it looks like you have read it right. The difference between 11:59 pm 12/31 and 12:01 am 1/1 is two minutes. It means the song is over, the big glass ball has dropped and I was sober enough to see it all once again. No difference on 12/21/2012...just another day on the calender. That's not a negative thing and I don't want to be seen as a pessimest. These are all good things...just do me a favor and wake me up just before the giant asteriod hits.

I heard something (on an am radio station at 4:30 in the morning) having to do with how mushroom spores can survive in space, and something to do with 2012 and some apparent black hole at the center of the milky way. It basically ends up everyone (and I guess this would affect many animals) on earth is tripping. I think this would be wonderful, of course it would be chaos at first, but eventually I think this could lead to a type of "Garden of Eden."

FOr all its worth, I cant help but write this. I am an astronomer and ive noticed the Dec 12 , 2012 date falling on a Meteor Shower Day. A famous Meteor Shower called the Geminids will be on that date. It is every year, but this time maybe an asteroid will hit us from it???

Meteor Showers are in fact earth crossing the exact paths of asteroids, or comet debris left behind there paths.

The Tunguska blast in 1908(?) was a part of Enke's comet and fell during a meteor shower or at least in association with one. Could happen...odds are against it, but it could happen.
