If there isn't anything abnormal about it why are we setting records all over the map?

We just got over a heat wave here in Philly. It's getting worse!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm scared. What's going to happen to us 20 years from now?

Yep, we had two weeks over 100 degrees F, and now are having 80 degree days with loads of rain. I think we had at least 5 inches in one afternoon. I feel sure next week we will have more hot dry weather just to keep us from adjusting to it.

Only good thing about the temps this year is that my heating bill (natural gas) went down. WAAAY down. It usually starts snowing in September and doesn't stop until the beginning/mid May. (Yep, 9 months of winter and 3 months of summer. GAH) But now we're using more electricity than in past years by needing to run the A/C so much.

And YES, I'm talking about living in Pennsylvania - a climatically-challenged area of PA!

We had no snow at all this past winter, kinda weird for the mountains of WV. I wasnt complaining because icy roads conditions make me a nervous wreck when my husband drives all day for his job.

it's not choosing when it's 90F and extremely humid in your home and you're ill!

otherwise, yes, A/C is more often than not a choice. honestly, i hate it. didn't think we'd need it when we moved here. everyone said there were never more than 2 weeks out of the summer TOTAL that they wished they had A/C. that was 8 years ago we were told that. now more and more people are installing A/C here who never had a need for it before. it's gotten so hot here that we had an elderly neighbor here for the day because they didn't have A/C in his home.

I'm seriously thinking about moving back to San Francisco. It is almost never over 80 degrees and the winters aren't very cold at all.

I'm currently living in Philly and it's been really hot here the last couple of weeks.

HOLY FUCK! In ONE WEEK....Record thaw of Greenland's Ice Sheet! This is surface thaw, not ice disappearing.
