And that's where I live, on the water in a sailboat. Lots of people do it, many communities floating out there. Ever been tempted to run away to sea?
Nope, I'd much prefer to get lost in a forest or something. I can't breathe underwater and that's enough for me to acknowledge that the ocean is not a place for the mortal man.
I love the sea but I'm a forest creature at heart. I spent 6 1/2 years in the navy and loved my time being surrounded by sea in all directions. Amazing feeling.
As a side note the ratio is much greater as scientist have discovered a huge reservoir of water 400 miles below the Earth's surface. This reservoir holds three times as much water as all the oceans combined. It had been thought that the oceans held 96.5% of all the water, now they are down to 24.8%.
i've been briefly tempted to run away to lots of places, but i've never seriously considered any of them.
I live near the river and once seeing a tv episode of a kid taking off on a raft. I wanted to run away on raft down the river.
more accurately, 2/3rds of this planet's SURFACE is covered in water. deep as oceans are, and any water deep enough to submerge your head, is deep enough to drown in, like the atmosphere, on a globe of the size you can hold in your hand, they are no deeper then the thickness of the clear coating on their surface. it is wonderful our planet has a lot of water, and the abundance of life this has made possible. this coating of life, on our planet's surface, is the precious thing, that makes our own life possible. i did try living on a boat once upon a time. and until i went completely broke, i continued to do so. there was this slight problem called moorage fees. much cheaper then rent, but still not free. lacking income at the time, and i've never been good at becoming employed quickly, i eventually ran out, of what resources i had. boats are fine, but i still wish i had bought land instead. i suppose its all about what interests you.
