    Ours is worse.

One year with L (Learner's License; class 7L) after written exam (50 questions, must get at least 80%) With your L, you may drive with one other person (your instructor) who is at least 25 years old and has their class 5 license (Full License).

After one year, you are eligible to take your 'N' (Novice; class 7) test. It is a road test. If you took a "Young Drivers" course for over $600.00, you are elibible for your N test 6 months earlier (although they are now changing it to three months).

If you pass you 'N' road test, you can now drive alone. You can have a maximum of one person with you in your car unless they are direct family members (parents, siblings, etc. no cousins or grandparents unless they're your 'one' passenger or unless they're your guardian). You must drive with your 'N' for two years. You must never have any alcohol in your system while driving (even if it's lower than .08). When you are done, you can take the class 5 road test.

With a class 5 license, you can have anyone in your car (and as many people) and it's just a regular license. You can also stop wearing that stupid magnetic "L" or "N" sign on the back of your car.

You wasn't here. (haw haw... I remembered, I just didn't say anything earlier in on the thread. I do remember I was about to post, then got carried away with trying to screw with the satellite box thing on the colored television set)

Happy Birthday dammit, teh Kryz. :D

That is the saddest thing I have ever heard... I guess Canada isn't as perfect as I thought it was...

But I guess if they are aying for your healthcare, they wanna pay for as few accident-related-injuries as possible :p

    I feel lucky now. :uhoh2:

My 15th year really sucked hard, as did 12/13.

    Happy Birthday Kryz. :D

Belated an all.. but.. Regardless. :D

I don't think I've ever had a worse year than my fifteenth. Not sure if I will... but...

I don't know. It's like those problems will dissapear someday with all the larger problems, but the larger problems don't really mean anything... because all that stuff is bullshit anyway.

It varies by province. When I was in highschool, Alberta was giving licenses to kids at 14.

When I got my license, it was 3 months of an L and 6 months of my N. I had my full license before I was 17. And the only restriction with the N was a 0.0 BAC.

But in BC, its for 2 reasons:

    a)to combat street racing
    and
b)to lower crash rates, because BCIC, the only insurance company is government run.

Well, I'm sure happy for all those people who had a great 17 - I don't remember it being that great at all (hmm... I know that sounds sarcastic, but it's really not)

I think 17 can be a pretty tough age... I remember it that way... but then again, I remember a lot of years being tough, so...

it may depend on the person!
