My thread started with the bigoted treatment that 14 year old kid got in Texas. I'm spot on all the way through. I follow racism issues in the media. I see where they refuse to sell furniture to Muslims in Missouri, and shoot them in their own apartment in North Carolina. You know, stuff like that.

  2. You do realize the "bigoted" cops who hauled him in were black right? You like to play on race far more than I care to see here. Your statement about white Americans was VERY bigoted, so wtf gives you such a right? Why is your bigotry "better" than anyone else's?

And by chance did you tour any brick-making operations in Qatar? Or did you just stay around the hotels? Nice and safe.

I don't mind a real discussion on these issues, but you're adding layers of shit we don't need here. Stay on task and leave the racism out of it.

By page 4 of this thread, almost everyone seemed to come to an agreement that the kid did NOT invent a clock. He dismantled the parts from an old one and put them in a pencil box deliberately making it look suspicious. Did you catch that part, or were you too busy following race-bait issues on MSNBC? Golly, so much for being spot on all the way through.

Seeing how high schoolers have brought real bombs and weapons onto school campus in the past have been of all sorts of different racial ethnicities, why does this specific incident make the entire state of Texas full of bigots?

I've seen the brick-making plants all over the world. It is work and it is paid work. It is not slavery as you mis-represent. As far as what you care to see here, the front page says this is a free speech site; and, I can speak without fear. I think globally and act locally; and, I am surrounded by bigots everywhere, so I address the issue when I can.

I've been to Texas and it is full of bigots. That teacher, had he or she been a true and competent science teacher, should have recognized that the 14 year old child had "put together" a stupid and harmless project. The kid never said he "invented it." Only the FOX news scumbags like Honnity, Lubin, and Lamebutt mis-presented the clock to the American people as "invented." Whether the kid built it, ot put it together, or reconstructed it, or refabricated it, he did present it to the teacher for an opinion, or approval. White kids for years have put together HEATHKIT projects and taken them to school. The Texas reaction to this 14 year old kid was way overzealous and bigoted.

Check out how many cheap labour forces (all foreign) died during construction work in Quatar. And what they got paid. It's not a secret and it's not a false rumour.

On the other hand, I feel 6 eyed shaman is deliberately misinterpreting you, Stormountainmain. Because even if this original article about the school project was all a scam, the boy did got the media attention and shit talk from generalizing racists because of his religious background and he and his family did eventually choose to go to Quatar. So not everything we're talking about here is a scam.
There's a certain amount of westerners that does not know how to deal properly with people from a complete different ethnic and religious background. This boy's family seem to have left for a large part because of it.

To answer your question, I do not want to be counted among EVIL Americans. EVIL Americans always brag that they have free speech in America; however, they always attack the people who wish to use free speech. It seems EVIL Americans cannot handle the truth when presented to them. My next trip is going to be to Patagonia, just south of Argentina. I might even go to Istanbul. I think that I can go where I want. Most EVIL Americanos have a hard time with that concept, you know, FREEDOM.

I agree ASMO, they came to TEXAS, got a taste of TEXAS, and went to Qatar. Why they decided on Qatar is not my affair. I would not want to go there. But, I do like Istanbul! I like Imperia in Italy, and like Valletta in Malta!

I've been to Istanbul once too and I recommend it to everyone who does not get spontaneous diarrhea from being in a country where the Adhan sounds 5 times a day. It's epic in all aspects, cultural, historical etc. etc. Personally I would find it very interesting to take a look in Quatar as well, but it is a completely different country of course (from Turkey as well as just the USA I mean.) Not sure what Malta and Valletta have to with anything? I guess you just like travelling :p

I don't know about Qatar specifically but modern day slavery is a subject that horrifies and therefore interests me so I've read up on it a bit, including areas near Qatar, and it does sound like you probably have your head in the sand.

America isn't really better, almost everything we buy comes from a sweat shop or coffee or chocolate plantation where the "workers" are horribly mistreated, but I can't really figure out why you're insisting on describing America and Americans as evil and in the same breath defend a country like Qatar. I'm sure it is a lovely place but women basically have no rights there and I seriously doubt migrant workers are treated as well as you think they are. Are women and migrant workers not on the same level as American blacks and Muslims? It seems really hypocritical to me.

Yet, they continue to arrive as immigrants. So for all of the holy self-flagelation we have tons of African and Islamic arrivals. It must be better here than back at home.

    I would have guessed Pravda.

True enough Meliai; however, where workers are mistreated or abused, it is not always slavery. I agree some workers are treated like dirt; but, they are not enslaved, as in OWNED. The slaves in America were OWNED. The American Constitution counted Negros as 3/5 of a human. The countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia are horrible absolute monarchies where people have no rights. I don't understand why America always wants to support these tyrants. In contrast to these horrible monarchies, there are Arab and Muslim countries who give full rights to women. In Iraq, a woman was able to get a driver license and drive a car as early as 1933, and wear what she wanted. Iraq has for decades had equal pay for equal work laws to protect women. In contrast, America has no such law on a national scale. California was the first state to pass such a law, just a few weeks ago.

PRAVDA is better than FOX. FOX news went all the way to the Supreme Court, and prevailed in getting THE RIGHT TO TELL LIES TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

SMH, Do we really have to exhume this dead horse just to beat it up some more?

If you rounded up all the bigots in the state of Texas, the bigotry and ignorance wouldn't amount to this sentence alone.

Even more evidence you're misunderstanding the real story. The teacher who reported the student was an English teacher, not a science teacher. Right after the alarm went off in class.
Ahmed claimed to have built it from scratch. If that were the case, why does the circuit boards have Microtona logos silk screened on them? What HEATHKIT projects have part numbers silk screened on circuit boards? It was pulled from a Radioshack Microtona alarm clock, and you'd be an ignorant fool if you wish to believe otherwise. And even then this clock was NOT part of a school assignment. He brought the clock in on his own accord to supposedly impress his engineering teacher. The engineering teacher said it "looked good" but advised the student to put it away and not show it to other teachers. Ahmed disobeyed and the alarm went off in the English class. If you bring something to school that looks like a threatening weapon in this culture's extremely PC climate, you'll get in trouble for mischief no matter what color you are.

All sorts of media outlets have stated he "invented" it.

    etc. etc. etc.

But yes. Nobody should call this an invention.

I guess you now can add Bill Maher to your bigot list

I'm not deliberately misrepresenting nobody. I'm calling out bullshit when I see it. Oh yes, the USA was too racist and mean to the high school freshman. He got a white house invite, twitter and facebook internships, and scholarships toward MIT. What a racist and islamophobic bunch of assholes this country is.

  17. Exactly, if the US was so horrible, why would people be lining up to come to this "horrible racist nation"? Even breaking the law to do it.

Well dude, the President of the United States invited that 14 year old Muslim boy to the White House to apologize to him on behalf of ALL the American people, for the way he was treated by the illustrious Texans. The big famous corporations offered him scholarships to encourage his interest in science and electronics, and to apologize for the way he was treated by the illustrious Texans. Maybe you should back off the mushrooms for a while?

Plenty of 'em are leaving this "horrible racist nation" too. A few months ago an Alabama cop broke the neck of an Indian man and paralyzed him for walking around the block. The man had only been in the racist America for a few days. In Bloomington Indiana a horrible racist person attacked a Muslim woman, removed her head scarf, and strangled her for no clear reason. In Tulsa Oklahoma a horrible racist person attacked a Muslim woman who was inside her car at a traffic light. In North Carolina a horrible racist person entered the apartment of a Muslim family, and shot all three people. In Saint Louis a horrible racist person refused to sell furniture to the wife of a Muslim dentist. There are other horrible racist nations in the world and deserve to be exposed; however, we are talking about this one and the way that 14 year old boy was treated.

  20. I appreciate your examples. The Alabama case was disgusting. I've had plenty of encounters with cops and was never treated like a human being by them. But the population of the US is only going up. People are not fleeing the country over racism. Your examples are isolated events. MOST Americans are not racists at all. Otherwise we'd have a very different nation, far less tolerant. But using the cops as an example is trite. Cops suck all over the planet.

And Ahmed seems to have recovered nicely from his horrible ordeal. He's a "hero" and basically didn't actually DO anything. Only in America!
