    Nitroglycerin, in tablet form, is taken sublingually (under the tongue) to combat panic attacks and similar ailments.

    Also, nitroglycerin is a high explosive; similar to trinitrotoluene: TNT. Nitroglycerin, however, is much more unstable than TNT, and must be mixed with stabilizing agents (such as horsehair and sawdust most commonly) in order to be used by any sane human being in the form of dynamite. The amounts of C3-H5-N3-O9 in prescribed tablets are minute, so it would be a waste of time trying to extract it for its explosive properties.
