after my last posts i was thinking - didnt i say that already? and sure enough i did - a long time ago, to the same people. and they are still going on about it. my post from many days ago in this same thread if something goes wrong on a trip it is 100% due to the 'set and setting' and has nothing to do with 'how much' one took.
I stick to the point that a tripsitter might add so safety when someone is so far out of it that they can't judge anymore what is safe to do or are phisically unable to move well and might end up doing very harmful things. If there's still enough self control a tripsitter is indeed not neccisary. I agree that a tripsitter shouldn't be there to prevent fear or anything; because in the basic there isn't really a reason to be affraid while tripping if nothing actually theathening is happening. I also agree that taking LSD when one is affraid anyway isn't a good idea. But still; at a dose of 100 hits someone might accidently hurt themselves not knowing what they're doing; and in that caze it might be safer to have someone watching.
i dont agree with that statement. the higher the dose the more likely a bad trip will happen even if in a perfect set and setting. "not letting go" it being to intense thus being scary. i dont know. or just a psychotic reaction from too much that the brain cant handle.
there in lies the problem. your view of LSD. you do not respect it for what it truly is. if you think that a large dose is too intense and thus scary, that is your belief - your expectations or way of imagining it. that is part of set and setting. the experience itself is quite subjective. a large dose will not be too intense and scary for everyone. therefore it is safe to say that it is not the drug that makes it too intense and scary. when i do a larger dose the first part of the trip, as i am coming up it is very intense - but i go with it and i have a great trip. i havent been scared on LSD in a very long time. if you have a bad trip there is something wrong with your set and setting. a persons mentality, expectations, surroundings and friends as well as many other factors are all a part of set and setting. even what you think LSD is will have a great deal to do with what happens. i use LSD for spiritual reasons and for self growth and discovery so thats what i get out of it. LSD is not some scary undiscovered thing to me - i am well aware of its purpose in my life - i respect it and use it for the right reasons so i have nothing to fear - no matter what the dose. if i was doing a larger dose i would go camping because i cant handle the city when i am that high even if i stay in. even the sound of cars and trucks going by can ruin my trip on a larger dose! i would not take 100 hits as that would be a waste. by a large dose i mean 5-10 hits at once. seriously, who is going to take a large dose of LSD if they think it is going to be too intense and scary? if you thought it would be that kind of experience i am sure you wouldnt do it. learning how to work with your own set and setting in a way that allows for a great trip every time is something that comes with time and experience. i know now that all the problems that i have ever had with LSD in the past were my own fault. my own fault through my inexperience - all i have to do is learn as i go. it is also a good idea to talk to (or in some cases read about) people who have experience to find out what they learned. some people will have good ideas or lessons for you while others will be somewhat lost themselves - that is something you will have to figure out - who to listen to. in timothy learys book 'the psychedelic experience' he suggests that a larger dose would be easier then a smaller dose. because with a larger dose you have less ego then you would with a smaller dose - the ego is what causes the problems. it is easier to cling to or hold on to your ego on lower doses. with a larger dose you dont have that struggle with your ego as much as the drug takes you exactly were you want to go with little to no struggle. good reading - 'the psychedelic experience' by timothy leary and 'be here now' by ram dass... both these books helped me better understand and respect LSD.
You are absolutely correct my friend. The Psychedelic Experience and Be Here Now are long since considered the mainstays of the psychedelic repetiore, and composed by experts in the field, I might add. Trippers today, and alot of them are encountered in this forum, neglect to realize that this whole tripping thing came from a thing called the psychedelic counterculture, where consciousness was traversed and explored by others, others who mapped it. I never will understand why these people are ignored, and instead the newcomers act as though they are forging into a new terrain. I don't get it. Must be ego tripping, to go with the acid tripping. Hip forums exist only because of people like Tim Leary, Huxley, Ram Dass, Kesey, and so forth. Hippie came from these men's exploits.
a common problem now a days is to assume that LSD is like alcohol. alcohol is well known for making people do stupid things, things they later regret, or even crash a car. LSD is not at all like alcohol. if anything LSD (even in large doses) would make it even less likely that someone would do something unsafe. of course there are the exceptions and there have been people who have done some stupid shit on L but i would say that something is wrong with them to begin with and they probably shouldnt be experimenting psychedelic drugs in the first place. personally i have never witnessed or even heard of anyone that i know do anything incredibly unsafe on LSD. i have heard the stories that we all have about someone jumping off a building and such. of course none of these stories can be confirmed so why should we believe what is most likely a myth. if it is true that people have done such things on L i would say that there was something wrong with them and it was not the drugs fault - many people jump off buildings all the time some of them are sober even. having trip sitters around is far more dangerous then tripping alone or tripping with others. anyone who imagines LSD to be something that can turn you into someone that would hurt themselves or someone else when you dont normally have such tendencies really has no idea what LSD is. LSD is not something that can turn a completely rational person into someone that could kill or hurt someone - alcohol could do this - but LSD can not.
I didn't assume LSD is like alcohol, I don't mean loosing control over your actions in the alcohol way either. I also agree that most of the jumping stories and other LSD myths are in fact myths, as they're doing exactely the same thing in my coutnry with the media to magic mushrooms right now, and those are all already proven lies. I assume its likely the same with LSD. I also didn't mean that a person would litteraly do something to hurt someone or otherwize a chance in mind being the reason for the action, but I ment tripping so hard that you cannot base your judgement on what you're seeing anymore, as in: seeing so many visuals you might trip over something or walk into something or fall off something and hurt yourself etc. Those kind of accidents I was talking about. Not by choise of the invidual but simply bceause of a lack of the ability to judge the world on what you're seeing. I think in most cazes a tripsitter isn't neccisiary indeed.
accidents like that happen all the time even without LSD. having someone around just in case will still not prevent that from happening. if you accidentally hurt yourself like that you could always pick up the phone and call someone if you need help with a broken leg or something. there is only a very small chance that someone would fall and hit there head and either kill themselves or render themselves immobile and even if that was to happen there is not much a trip sitter could do to prevent it anyways.
I'd think it's safe to say he'd be fine doing 100 hits of acid, based on the fact that people back then (and maybe still), were taking thumb prints, and ending up okay.
Experienced trip sitters can definitely handle even the biggest freak outs, at least in my belief. This one kid I knew who sat for a trip wasn't exactly calming us down, but the shit he said just made everything a lot better. Words could make you go on a journey, and I'd assume that'd be even more true on 100 hits.
'experienced trip sitters' would realize how much better the trip would be if there were no 'trip sitters' and take some L themselves...lol i agree that conversation can be very interesting and therapeutic. i find that conversation with other trippers is far far better then a conversation with someone who is not tripping. if you really want to annoy yourself try having a conversation with someone who is drunk when you are tripping - that really sucks.
The best kind of 'tripsitters' are people experienced with tripping who are tripping themselves on the same moment. Its fun to trip with a small amount of people, probably the best way to trip when it comes to having people around..
So much hostility, lol. The kid wasn't really talking regularly as a sober person was, he knew how to say trippy shit and overall the experience was quite interesting, he could handle it well. As for someone on 100 hits, maybe he wouldn't be able to take care of it, but just putting it out there. Words can be trippy and fun. Stories seem to come to life if I listen while on acid.
did anyone read that link to the thread at shroomery.org about the thumbprints both of the guys that had done them had trip sitters and talked about how you should have one when dosing this much.
hhahaha ^^^^^^^young deadhead nice point man fuckin BURN! alright guys its sunday 6.04 am and his trip has officially ended i think i can say. thats 9 days i believe with no sleep and barely any food, he seems coherent tonight said the visuals had stopped and got really stoned and ate a large meal and gone to sleep now. i guess well have to wait and see what hes like after some sleep. hes got a few pages of scribbled shit and drawings that he wants to explain to me later today. ill try to get him to write out a trip report IF his trip has ended. need some sleep guys its been a long week and a half PEACE!!
thats bullshit. about not sleeping for nine days. if you say this shit i dont think i can believe any of your story. no one took the 100 hits - your making up the story. or he was smoking crystal meth too - that is the only way one can stay up for that long. i am pretty sure that it would be difficult to stay up that long even on crystal meth. there is no way in hell that he would be awake for nine days even if he continued to take LSD. your full of shit! thats really fucked up that you would lead on so many people with make believe. you should have done a little research first.
are you fuckin kidding me man ive done week meth binges myself and done a whole week awake with no drugs. ive said the whole time he hasnt slept you fucking idiot do YOUR reserch. your just having a little hissy fit because i sided with deadhead on that last post.screw putting up with your posts with a smile. douche
and what would that prove? that there are people who dont agree with me - we have already established that! i have done a large dose with no sitter, no one with me at all. and i say that you dont need a sitter. who cares what two other people think. doesnt change the good points i made on the subject!
you are a liar. that is very obvious. you can not stay up for nine days on LSD. thats all there is to it. you are a liar. stupid highschool kids with nothing better to do than make shit up.
