^ i get it, i'm kind of the same way. it's nice to be busy when you're busy and then actually have a couple days of legitimate downtime to spend as you actually want. i don't really have the luxury of that schedule anymore, but i have in the past and i really liked it. onto the thread... 1. Favorite Book - i don't have favorites of most things. i change my mind a lot. 2. Favorite Family movie - i just told you. 3. Preferred pastime - "preferred" is just a synonym for "favorite." 4. Favorite drink - ok, i do have a favorite here. water, because it really is the only truly thirst quenching drink. 5. usual weekend plans - i usually plan on working minimal hours, then running some errands, cleaning my apartment, and relaxing. but what usually happens is i get stuck working for a long time saturday, then i get home and immediately my friends demand that i go babysit them, then i come home and go to sleep, wake up sunday and do my laundry and do my weekly mom phone call, and then my friends immediately demand that i go babysit them again, then i go home and go to sleep, and then it's monday again. 6. favorite animal - why does everything have to be a favorite with you? 7. which greek god would you like to be and why - well that's a more interesting question, but i really don't know the greek gods enough to give any sort of answer to this. 8. Summer or Winter? - summer, so much. this is another where i actually have a clear favorite. which is summer. fall is a distant second. and then spring is awful and winter is more awful. 9. LOTR or Star Wars? - LOTR, although i never really got much into either of them. 10. Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, or PC? - playstation for gaming. but PC overall, since i do way more on the computer than i do with gaming.
1. Favorite Book george martin's tuf voyaging, carrol cherreh's pride of channur, goulart's hawkshaw, r.a. lafferty's strange doings, and close on their heals, i probably have more then one favorite author for every letter in the alphabet. 2. Favorite Family movie i don't know what family is supposed to mean, i guess it means no sex but you can kill all the people you want as long as they don't bleed or something, at any rate strangeness is good but epicness ruins everything, again i have several, though i read a ton more books then i watch movies, two of my three favorite movies of all time i guess would count as 'family', i.e. dark crystal, and the version of fantasia i saw in 1954. add to that more recently would have to be zootopia. the first 'men in black' is somewhere on that list, and while i wouldn't tell a kid not to watch it, guardians of the galaxy gets some kind of a mention from me. oh definately in imax 3d if you can. 3. Preferred pastime riding trains and buses to places i haven't been often, making and operating near scale models of imaginary things in my head, making 3d models of them inside the computer and animating them, basically if it involves creating or exploring i probably have at least some interest, and if it doesn't involve my doing so my self, i even more probably don't 4. Favorite drink iced mocha, or 'ice' (refrigerated) water with a drop of lemon or lime and no sugar 5. usual weekend plans sitting in front of the computer, making 3d spaces inside of it, or cruzing the internet. i don't usually plan on going anywhere on the weekends, unless i'm out of something i need to go to the store for, because that's when fewer buses run then during the week. ok, i know it must seem like cheating to have a pension, but i AM over 65. obviously if i was working or going to school, well, i would still prefer to have my 'weekends' sometime in the middle of the week, when all the buses are running and business are less crowded. 6. favorite animal red pandas, though i don't think i've ever held or petted one, second i guess would be all cats, all that are individually friendly and small enough to not accidentally kill you trying to play, beyond that, pretty much everything with four legs and fur, with the same caveat as with cats, although i'm all for everything existing even if it doesn't want anything to do with humans. as you might have guessed, humans are my least favorite mammel, though i can like them too, they're just a little too combination of destructive and uninteresting. 7. which greek god would you like to be and why oh i wouldn't want to be any of that bunch, furst of all they all look like ugly humans, and second of all they mostly seem to hate logic, just like egotistical humans of limited intellegence. there are some god-like abilities i wouldn't mind having, but if i had to have a physical shell, like i do as a human, i would want it to be on some other planet, then one humans occupy at the same time. preferably one covered nearly completely in forested mountains. there are some other panteons, that their gods at least look cooler. 8. Summer or Winter? winter for sure. summer heat has always been miserable for me, plus easy weather seems to bring out the most unpleasant of people. 9. LOTR or Star Wars? well i don't like the premis of there having to be wars at all, there doesn't, i like having godlike technology to play with, but i also prefer using it to live closer to nature as well. 10. Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, or PC? real computer, because you can actually create with it yourself, and again, i'm really not very interested in anything i can't do so with.
I'm pretty sure that's what Star Wars is about. I'm right there with you on the technological utopia.
magic house is a really good one that i think would count as 'family. told from the pov of an abondond kitten, who finds his way into the house of a goofy old illusionist, who's real estate agent son wants to lock him up in an old folks home and not all the other inhabitants entirely welcome a new member to their family, especially not the rabbit and the mouse. another somewhat recent movie i sort of like, though with more bloody awfulness then i would consider family, is a kind of mystery adventure thriller in which mostly feral cats, and a few other species, play the lead roles, and humans, whom you eventually come to realize are what they somewhat dismissively refer to as can openers, remain mostly off stage and out of sight. oh i almost forgot the name, its called felidae. these are both full length animated.
