A few years ago, a guy came off his motorbike at a junction in Fulham at 3pm one Friday. He had not been involve in any form of accident.
Because his injuries were serious, police had to take dozens of photographs and bring in a skid test car to test the road, in case a claim was made against the council or the motorcycle manufacturers. It all took 3 hours, by which time the area was gridlocked. People arriving at the station were stuck and needed to travel to an alternative station unless they were walking distance from home and this caused chaos on the underground. South west London ended up up a standstill until 9pm and more than 100 people who flew home after work on Friday missed their flights from Heathrow.
Perhaps the most crazy part of all, was that all this could have been avoided by opening 20 yards of a pedestrianized road to traffic. Neither the police or fire department (who had the keys to drop the bollards) were allowed to authorize this, in case a person did not notice all the cars and buses in the pedestrianized area and got knocked over.
We live in a crazy world, when during this time tens of thousands of people had no access to ambulances or fire trucks and 2 of the largest hospitals in London were completely cut off by road for more than 4 hours.

Common sense has become uncommon. Thankfully my motorcycle getoffs were out on the trail and in the woods where I could take a few minutes to compose myself and riding buddies to accompany me home where I could head to the hospital in a calm deliberate manner sans government officials breathing down my neck.

Well I might have found the answer as to why they were not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. This is just stupid.

i like printed newspapers because i can cut out just the headlines and make collages with them. it's funnier when you only have headlines.

Sounds great for spreading viruses hahaha. The websites have never been busier. Papers are still being printed in most places.

That's funny to me now because recently someone brought up that most people read only the headlines. And a tell for fake news is the stories which don't actually follow the headlines. Pretty telling.

I use newspapers regularly and quite effectively as part of my system of getting fires going in the stove.

I get it. But the problem is clearly the perception of those who view it on social media- people that have lost not just one person in their family there are damn near whole households that have been taken out by this goddamn virus. People who lost someone that they couldn’t even be close to for the whole duration in the hospital up until their last moments- I’m telling you- those people aren’t enjoying watching anything like those videos. To them it shows that these care-workers lack empathy, which in all reality, there’s a percentage of them that do. I promise you.

I’m all for people coming together and doing what they can to bring morale to their organization during stressful moments, but they should keep videos like that, within their specific workplace- keep it internal. All this turned out to be was entertainment to those who want to escape reality that this pandemic is even happening.

I hope I don't get low and the supply dries up. It works so well! I do have a pretty big backup stash, though.

a friend of ours brought a whole load of papers from the place where he works. they were all papers that I never buy. The Sun. The Star. The Daily Sport. you know, the ones with lots of naked women. that was eye-opening. i don't care about the sex stuff.. but when they actually try to report news stories! such trash. They shouldn't be allowed to pretend to be news. Still burn well though : )

plenty of people only read the headlines online too, which is evident on here when people believe the headlines but fail to read the article. Quite obvious in the thread about prince Harry criticizing the healthcare workers, which he never did, and other ones too.

Sacramento is pretty far from Orange County, I doubt there was a general agenda being pushed by the beach goers when it was open that weekend.

The article prompted a subscription pop-up, so I was unable to read, but yah some things have definitely made me consider just how much China has infilitrated California's economic sector and how much that is having an influence on responses.

Then again, it's a really large state, so the responses might be different than a lot of places in the country.

It's something I never gave thought to until Scott Adams brought it up a few days ago. Then the source of some of these wacko claims became evident. It seems there are people who latch onto anything that suggests what they want to believe.

Yep, Seems many are worried about the starting the fireplace issue. Lol. Even in that article.

do you want me to paste the article on here? I get a subscribe but it is at the bottom of the screen and I c@n still scroll through it,

I notice it a lot on here. Been like that since I have been here. PARTLY why I might seem so disagreeable. Lol. But I am very chill too. Lol. The Headlines are the articles for some people. Sensationalized for political reasons in the USA. Trying to grab the attention of certain people to have an effect on them. Often to enrage.
