‘‘Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.’’
    — Mahatma Ghandi, "Gandhi, An Autobiography", page 446

Although, I try to remember that the Constitution can't stop a cop bullet. We may have the "right" to bare arms but I've never seen anyone hold off cops because they had a right too. Most end up dead, with no rights at all. -DdC

    Tom Crosslin - Nov. 10, 1954 - Sept. 3, 2001
    Rollie Rohm - Dec. 27, 1972 - Sept. 4, 2001

‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.’’
    — Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

"No class or group or party in Germany could escape its share of responsibility for the abandonment of the democratic Republic and the advent of Adolf Hitler. The cardinal error of the Germans who opposed Nazism was their failure to unite against it. ....the 63% of the German people who expressed their opposition to Hitler were much too divided and shortsighted to combine against a common danger which they must have known would overwhelm them unless they united, HOWEVER TEMPORARY, to stamp it out."

"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." -- George W. Bush, 12/18/00

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
    -- Adolph Hitler, April 15, 1935

A right is not what someone gives you; it's what no one can take from you.
    -- Ramsey Clark

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
    -- H.L. Mencken

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
-- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.

"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom."
    -- John F. Kennedy

Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.
    -- Daniel Webster

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."
    -- John F. Kennedy

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences.
    -- C. S. Lewis

...unfortunately, we can't control the actions of everyone.
    --Bill Clinton, April 20, 1993

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did, and it never will. Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
    -- Frederick Douglass, August 4, 1857

Morality is always the product of terror; its chains and strait-waistcoats are fashioned by those who dare not trust others, because they dare not trust themselves, to walk in liberty.
    -- Aldous Huxley

I love that, you take all those anti gun-control quotes. Then your sig is a vote for Kucinich one. He's pro gun control. Surely if he's anti-patriot act you can accept that he is not an authoritarian dictator?

Strengthening gun control link, leads to Gun politics, not a word about Kucinich banning guns. Nothing on his website... kucinich.us

Health Care, Out of Iraq, NAFTA, The Patriot Act, Education, Social Security, Right-to-Choose, Worker's Rights, Environment, Farm Policy.

Kucinich would have been my first choice, now and in 04.

    Then Ron Paul, Now Nader...

I've never heard much about Kucinich and gun control. He has never mentioned it on TV that I saw. Maybe some auto-assault weapons. Hanging out with Willie I don't see how that conversation even fits. It may have been a political soothing the helicopter parents, same ones protecting their kids from hemp blue jeans and essential fatty acids. I don't think it was a high priority.

Once you involve the government you add to the problem. Kucinich seems to have a handle on that. He speaks of peace and Ghandi, but Ghandi wasn't for gun control. Prohibition is always a product sold. Outlaw carrots and tommorrow you will fill the cages at huge profits with carrot munchers. You will have groups form protesting rallies and groups prohibiting.

Outlawing guns is not the solution, or guns really even a problem. Another unenforcable law. A fear topic for the local news. With cops taking both sides. Stupid people with guns are a problem. Stupid people drive cars and become White House residents. Kucinich had strong right wing bucks trying to buy his seat in Ohio. Why is another prohibition, of a long line of failed prohibitions, going to work this time. Why fix something that ain't broken while everything that is, is left off the table. Obama&Mama ain't the ticket.

I was raised with guns in western Pa. The deer hunters. Mostly cops and blue collar who made me laugh harder than Cheech and Chong. I gave my guns up in 69 when the governor opened out of state licenses for a quick fix. They would come and pay lots of money, trash the place, get drunk and shoot at anything. It was safer at the May Day Demonstrations smoking doobers. But, the people I knew who hunted, respected their weapons. I was taught how to care for a gun before I could legally drive. Kids can get hurt, kids can be crazy. I was a lot more reckless before Ganja than after. Those situations may be better off without guns. But outlawing them ain't gonna work. I Came to Cali with a pistol I hadn't shot in a while. The Texas rangers pulled me over, glanced at it, and set it aside, nothing. Then about lost it over a bag of sage and a rain cane.

Kucinich has been the only Krat voting against Iraq and the Patriot Ax. I've said, the only American running for the Democrats. If he would get with Paul and Nader maybe it would get the deadwood to register and the registered to vote. Looks like the Status quo DNC Krats are searching for the SOS, to be republican lites. McCain is taking notes on the Donnie and Marie show,

The NRA brought us mandatory minimums...
Neocon kids are having the abortions.
Hiding it from the stigmatizing they know they're in for.
The neocon man as head of the house, king of the castle BS,
works, in the back seat of the family mini van.
The high school quarter back ain't taking the rap,
the cheerleader knows she will be the outcast.
Leaves a solution, they think they can outlaw.
Prevention is a sin, to them. Condoms forbotten.
Birth control is abortion. So is spraying fields with poison.
But they don't seem to get that part.
Poison, hemp doesn't use, except they outlawed that.

    Outlawing blacks from marrying whites,
outlawing stoners from foodstamps for life.
Outlawing slave labor except in the prisons,
filled by outlaw workers, see any pattern here?
    Slaves are too expensive today,
with the cost of housing and food.
    Weren't no enlightenment,
    if that's what anybodies thinking.
    3500 lynched for insolence,
probably caused by smoking a reefer.
They then outlawed so it wouldn't spread.
60,000 outlawed from voting in Fla.
Falsely accused, Had names sounding like convicts.

"They"tried to outlaw omega 3 hempseed,
outlaw words you can say on the TV.
outlaw how you decorate, what you can eat,
and what you can smoke, when you can drink.
If the Church government approves its morally fit,
like caging sick people for Ganja possession.
Or bombing school buses in Kosovo.
Or Bagdad, outlawing Cuba and soon Iran.
Just no casino's or prostitutes, keep them outlawed.
Adultery and lotteries, bingo and "escorts" are legal.
    Outlaw burning the flag,
unless it is old and you have permission.
That Iraqi crude oil red white and blue,
scraps of plastic sewed in Chinese sweatshops by kids,
So neocons and neolibs can jerk it at the poor kids,
going to the newest police action.

    McCain Should Know The Truth

    Harkin to Lie

    Let's outlaw liars in government.
    Closed door energy deals,
wars made for profits and chickenhawks.
Snooping and snitching and false witnessing,
    Illegalize hiding Ganja research...
and outlaw diseases and drunks driving airplanes.
    I'd go for those bans.
    Klintoon wrote the Patriot Ax,
    Bastardized the Higher Education Ax.
Biden lied to ram the RAVE Ax through.
Stopped a NORML rally or two.

Bush destroyed Texas and everyone cheered.
and voted him in to destroy the rest of the country,
I reckon, they feared Klintoon's liberals,
forcing sodomy and pot on them.
Then it will be sold to the New World Banksters.
We won't need that old hemp parchment,
as state employees, with a National ID,
we won't have to question authoritah!
Division among the sheople always let's "them"get away with it.
I mean really, if a redneck shoots himself in the woods,
    does anyone hear it?
    We have 6 billion replacements,
just visit wallmart or your local hospital.
Call your ISP. Bet it ain't US.
