i don't believe the whole of you is your body. even the whole of the computer you're sitting in, isn't it's physical circuits, but the arrangement of charges in its 'memory' devices.
that's what the operating system by which you interface with it is. sure there's the keyboard and the display, but without the bootloader, in read only memory, you couldn't load the operating system, (in the earliest days you could key it in with front panel switches. get ahold of one of those old systems and try it sometime) even with the boot loaded in, you still need an operating system to be able to run application programs.

now the o.s. and the apps, do, in principal reside on you drives and in your ram, but they aren't the drives and ram either, again their patterns stored on them in the form of electrical or optical charges. its the pattern and the pattern isn't the hardware. its what's called an emergent phenomina.

your awareness isn't the little grey cells, it isn't your viens or your big toe, its the pattern, and not of your physical appearance, or any other atribute of your physical existence.
it isn't created by what you remember. that's reference material. useful, but it isn't you either. it is in how you look at things and how you like them.

now that, like the os and apps on your computer, reside in your little grey cells, but a pattern is a pattern, in principal it could reside anyplace that had the capacity to store it.
does this suggest something? it does to me.

if the pattern that is a god, can exist beyond time and space, without observable physical means of doing so, why assume it to be beyond the patterns that define ourselves, to do so as well?

either way though, whatever we make of the patterns of whatever world we're living in, these, while we are there, are what we must live with.
for this reason, it seems most appropriate, to take all affects we imprint on our surroundings, to the greatest extent we are able, into account.

so where are 'we'? 'we' are in some sense, wherever we percieve ourselves to be, our perceptions being part and parcel of the pattern that is us.

this could be in a living body such as we currently posses, but it could be anywhere a sufficiently complex patter could be.
and sometimes that is up to us, and sometimes it isn't, and most of the time it is only partially.

our dreams are part of the pattern that is us, but most likely not all of it either.
