I'm descended from royalty. I know, fuck me right? I'm one the worst people in the world. :tongueclosed: but we also have the documentations to prove it along with a castle in Germany baring our family name.

But I don't care about royalties or anything. I want that castle but because like as if you wouldn't want a castle. You don't want a castle you got rocks in ya head. It's a castle. It's bad ass. :)

I don't know why it would surprise people though that people come from high class societies of history. If they can seriously project all females down genetically to one sole female, then we're all related and we all match a princess or a queen or something.

And what's wrong with that anyway? So you've got a queen in your family tree. A lot of people probably do and you take pride in that, that's cool. Nothing wrong with that. Why wouldn't that excite you? Why shouldn't it excite you?

What you're living in 2017 dealing with this shit era on earth and you're down everyday and so whatever cool thing you learn you gotta be down on yourself about that too? That's loser talk.

It doesn't surprise anyone. As long as it's based on real records, and not poems, stories and mythology.

I had to call the police and animal control out tonight.

The shitty neighbor let her dog out on me while I was walking my dog, on leash, on my son's property.

The dog's fought but I never let go of my dog.

She has a puncture wound above her eye.

The neighbor received a citation from animal control.

I don't think that's really a valid point though. Ancient poetry and mythology holds a lot of foundation for historic facts. They are a gateway into the mental side of what was going on at the time.

For example if you take the Beowulf poems, monsters dragons etc. It's all very fake isn't it? But metaphorically it isn't. They've actually unearthed great mead halls in Denmark which holds very true foundations to the mead hall described in Beowulf. The dragon, perhaps not a flesh and blood dragon, metaphorically was most likely an example of the Danish government at the time in that area. That they were they were demons or dragon of sorts. It's up to interpretation but it's definitely not out of the question.

Many Scandinavian kings and royalty have absolutely no records other than in poems yet they were very real people still, even if in a mythological tale. They existed and the records are in the poems of the Eddas.

The bible even, is often claimed the worlds oldest history book. It's not unlike mythology or poem, yet the records in there are still factual. Kings, royalty etc. are all throughout the bible with their nonsense mythology and stories, yet they're one the greatest sources of history from 2000 years ago.

So why can one saga be historical evidence and others not? Sounds biased to me and like, just because you don't believe in it then it's not true for everyone else. But we can sit here and demonstrate that mythological poems can and have galvanised a solid foundation for historical facts and evidence. So you're pretty much wrong anyway. :p maybe a poem can't be traced back to ancestral heritage in this one instance, but it doesn't mean that other poetry or mythology doesn't hold ground either. Because it does. It's been demonstrated and you believe in it yourself in the bible.

I don't think anyone is saying poetry and epic tales cant be rooted in historical fact

They just cant be used as proof of direct lineage for Geneology purposes

Nobody argues where all the biblical people come from and who they were descended from. There's no DNA testing back then, nobody had a clue. But it's written in a book so it must be true. You can't just go dismissing things from one book to another book when it suits you. It's all got to be taken into consideration. If the bible holds ground, then so does everything else. It all works one way.

The fact that Scandinaian bloodlines are only recorded in certain historical poems pretty much solidifies my argument anyway.

Plenty of people argue those biblical claims though lol

I'm not saying we cant get vague ideas about our family history from poems, etc

But from a geneological perspective of tracing back direct lineage there is only so far you can go depending on the census, marriage and death records, land deeds and things like that

The line of my family that we've been discussing, my 28th Great Grandfather owned Framlingham Castle.
It's where Mary Tudor was crowned Queen of England.

My 19th Great Grandparents owned Blithfield Castle where the Abott's Bromley Horn Dance takes place.

surnames are relatively meaningless when it comes to establishing actual ancestry.
just because you have a name in common with another person does not by necessity mean you are related, obviously.
without even looking I'll wager lots of HF members surnames are listed in that book, don't really prove anything.
Provides are good starting point to establish concrete evidence, but in itself isn't ironclad.

Also folks need to bear in mind that people who do genealogies for others, be it via a website or some other means, have a vested interest in providing an interesting and "juicy" report.
Folks don't want to pay to find out they are a mutt descended from mutts and nobody was ever noteworthy in their lineage, which is what the majority of peoples reports would probably be.

The only thing that can be said for certain is that 0.5% of the forum members are related to Ghengis Khan, statistically speaking.

That's what I meant by the false agendas for online testing etc. I don't trust it because like you said, they want to enlighten. They tell all these great stories as commercial propaganda that boosts more sales and money. And nobody is ever what they expect which spurs more people to try it out. Just a load cobwash. I may have made that term up but that's what it is. Cobwash. :p

They called a gang of two other neighbor families over to talk crap about me to the police and animal control. I have no dealings with those people. They don't even know me but they were all acting like they did.

They told the officer that a few weeks ago I had threatened a 10 year old girl by shaking my cane at her. Um, I only had the cane out today. Before the police got there, they were yelling at me that they were going to get the little girl and have her tell the police how my husband had done that (which he hadn't.) We take care of those two little girls when they are walking home from the bus alone.

Animal Control didn't witness it so now I have to go to court as their witness. After the police left, they started mocking me, making fun of me being on a cane, being old, being white. The 22 year old even stood across the street from me and made gun shooting sounds at me. I called the police back out and he said they'd broken no laws but he'd go talk to them about it.

My damn finger is bruised from holding the leash. It hurts to move it.

Hey hotwater do you have a fun black name? :p
I've been meaning to ask or maybe I have before or is it a boring white name like Michael?

Every year I buy a NFL draft magazine which has like all the names of players etc. And every year the black guys names get crazier lol.

Actually it's a pretty good magazine for getting ideas for children's names. If you wanna find something unique, NFL Draft guide is your book. :p
