what is the best way to learn spanish without taking a class or buying a product

Although the OP last logged on in 2012, since this thread has come back to life, I will add a suggestion.
When a friend of ours wanted to learn German, he used every opportunity when he needed to discuss a work problem, to call the company branch in Germany.
Speaking directly to the natives certainly helped. The only problem was that when some people knew that he was struggling, they started replying in English and he felt like a right fool.
