OH DUDE. I hope you tell him you shoplifted!
If you didn't, there isn't a fucking thing they can do. You should have told him that you were going to return it, but forgot your receipt and were going home to get it. That way if he wants to ask the store manager, you just say you never talked to anybody because you had to get your receipt.
I've worked retail most of my adult life and stopped a few shoplifters in my time.
Before I could stop them I HAD to be CERTAIN of a few things or else it would never stand up.

    1) I had to know EXACTLY what was taken AND where they stashed it on their person.
    2) I had to account for their activity in the store EVERY SECOND to be certain they didn't ditch it in the store. I got a huge ration of shit because I stopped some girl who I saw stuff a bunch of make-up in her purse, but she got nervous and ditched it in the store, but I didn't see it. When I stopped her outside of the store she had nothing on her. I came close to losing my job over that. False imprisonment and unlawful detainment.
    3) After the above two, they can only stop you AFTER you have left the store without paying for it. As long as a person is still in the store they have not technically stolen anything yet.

At least those are the laws in CA. regarding apprehending shoplifters.
    NEVER ADMIT TO ANYTHING.

I have had to watch people walk out with shit I know they stole, but I didn't see everything, so they got too walk.

But I guess your not going to be shopping that way again.;)

I told the cop that I didn't steal anything, but he took me back to walmart and was gonna find out if I bought it there and said he'd get them to show him the surveillance video if he had to, so I just finally admitted to it.

What an ass. I'm sure he knew he was on shaky ground and used intimidation, plus that he already had you with the suspended license. Oh well.
Hopefully the time will pass quickly and money finds it way into your pocket.

Indeed. I still got off lightly, really, because I could've easily gotten a DUI charge with all of the xanax I'd eaten that day. lol

HaHa. I worked for Wrong Aid for a few years as an assistant manager. Also worked for Sav-On drugs (they were only west coast).

I've got some pretty good shoplifting stories, but this isn't the thread to tell em in.

Ok, heres a couple from Sav-On.
The managers office was on the second floor and looked out over the entire store. The manager, myself and undercover security were sitting up there talking. The cough & cold aisle was right under the window.
Well as we were talking we watched some real scroungy looking guy walk up, open a 12 oz bottle of Robitussin and chug the whole thing in one go right there. Then he grabbed another, stuck it in his pants and started to leave. We ran down and got him just as he left the store. By the time we got him to the back we were dragging him and he was totally incoherent and pissed himself.

The same week we stopped some skank who stole wine and she begged us to let her give us all blow jobs to let her go. From the way she looked, scabs and track marks EVERYWHERE we said no thanks.

Another time in that store two big, ugly mean fuckers came in and shoved bottles of Thunderbird (ech) into their coats and walked out.
I was told to follow them and get the wine back. Now I'm 5'11" and these guys were easily 4-5 inches taller than me with nothing to lose. I told them to stop and to give me back the wine. They just stared at me, and I said something like "I'm going to have to call the police". So the one who had the wine took it out, opened it and downed it in one drink, then smashed the bottle on my feet. They turned and walked away.
I was polite and said "Thankyou"
One of the girls that worked there was watching the whole thing and said "I was sure they were going to kill you."

Then the guy who stuffed a gallon of Smirnoff under his shirt and slipped on the way out of the store, smashed the bottle and laid his stomach wide open. Blood is a pain to clean up.:(

    There's a few. But I got a million of em.

God, you, my husband, my brother and i could spend some serious smoke time exchanging horror stories. From the old drug days to prison, to a job as a mortuary tech picking up bodies and all the scandals that ensued to a stint working at a hardcore BDSM porn shop and all the wonderful things that happened out in the alleyway behind the main building. . . .

Like I said, I look back and wonder how I'm still alive and marginally sane.

OOH I just remembered another from that store. It wasn't in the best part of town, if you hadn't guessed.

One day a homeless alcoholic about 50 came in. Now this guy STUNK and had open, oozing sores all over his face and arms, really nasty looking. Well he was just wandering around the store. So Dave, the assistant manager, and I tried to get him too leave but we weren't about too touch this guy. Well as we are walking him to the door he pulls out a BIC lighter and starts flicking it at Dave and saying "What ya going to do, huh, Pit boss, What you gonna do."
the whole time flicking his lighter at Dave and calling him "pit boss". We were about dying from laughter and stench by the time we finally got him out.
For the next six months every time I would pass Dave I would pull out my lighter and start lighting it and say "What ya gonna pit boss, huh, huh"

There was also the lady who always wore a full length fur coat, even in August, thought she was related to Queen Elizabeth and smelled like a dumpster behind a Chinese restaurant. Carmen, the cosmetics girl, would follow her around the store with a can of air freshener spraying it the whole time the lady was in the store.

    Ahh, the memories:rolleyes:

TNS hope these stories put a smile on your face before Monday.

Shit son, 5 days in jail is still 5 days in jail. I can't offer much, but I do offer this to have in your head for 5 days as optimism:

Yeah I know. I'm not worried about the actual jailtime. I'm kinda expecting that I'll see some old friends in there anyway, so that'll be cool. Fuck all this $1500 nonsense though. lol
