TX HB 254 for Tejas Stoners

    NORML is pleased to announce that House Bill 254, which seeks to amend
    penalties for possession of up to one ounce of marijuana to a Class C
    misdemeanor (punishable by a citation and a fine), unanimously passed
    the
    Texas House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee! The bill received a
    hearing
    in March, where testimony in favor of the bill came from a variety of
    witnesses, including newly elected Texas NORML Director Judie Niskala.

    House Bill 254 next faces a vote on the floor of the Texas House of
    Representatives, where we believe that it has a significant chance of
    passing. However, it will only receive serious consideration if state
    Representatives hear an unmistakable message of support from their
    constituents.
