Can you tell me a source that doesn't butter up the hard reality, by saying Islam is a religion of peace? A source that is free of bias and a 100% truth telling record? Of course not, because every source has a bias.

It's politically incorrect to criticize islam, which is why so few journalists are ballsy enough to come out and make a statement about it.

Every source has a bias, but some scholars at least try to be objective. The sources you sited make no effort at that, but are instead devoted to stirring up fear and hatred of Islam and are not at all hesitant to shade the truth or downright lie. They churn out virulent propaganda that has no credibility. For more balanced, objective, views I'd recommend Tod Green's The Fear of Islam: An Introducion to Islamaphoia in the West, Amir Hussain's Muslims and the Making of America, Khaled Abou El Fadi, Westling Islam form the Extremists, Reza Aslan's No God But God, and Andrew Rippin's Muslims: Their Religious Beliefs and Practices. I think these will give you a different picture of Islam than the one you're getting from your propaganda sources. After those, you might try Islam for Dummies and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Islam. Or maybe you should read those first. And why not visit a mosque?

 

I've done that often enough before with your sources, as best anyone could, but they're factories of disinformation. It would be like saying of a National Enquirer story about a two headed baby with antlers or "Hillary is a 250 Year Old Vampire": "you must check into these to find out if they're true, or else believe them!" People over here usually respond with a polite smile, a nod of appreciation for at least being aware that something went on, and then kindly let you know that such "first world problems" (disinformation in the news over in the US... as if they are unaware of it happening in their own country) has little to do with their daily lives and that they are too busy trying to make due with what is available to spend time conjuring up comparisons involving trailer parks and the like.

Who knows?. The body count from racism is difficult to determine and trace. Is killing millions your threshold for being concerned? We know that China under Mao killed some 40 milliom, so by that comparison, atrocities committed in other countries might seem trivial. Indirectly, by instigating hate leading to violence against mosques, individual Muslims, and even sikhs--not to mention those killed in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria because of Neocon philosophy--there is certainly a body count, and violence against Muslims in this country has been growing at an alarming rate in recent years.

But that's not the critical issue. The rise of violent hate groups is, in itself, a problem for democracy in the United States. It's understandable that people in other countries far away who have problems of their own might be indifferent. This is something I'd take into account in deciding what weight, if any, to give to their opinions.
