Moonie, I've been very lucky. There has been almost no rain...I have even watered my pitiful tomato plants until the last few nights when I've accepted its time to give it up to the season. Anyway, nearby me there have been floodings - as in nearby cities. The coast has experienced it pretty bad. My heart goes out to them. There have been a LOT of people and agencies from here in the upstate that are sending food, supplies and help to the coastal regions.

I've read where there have been fatalities, even one or 2 people drowned in a car. People driving on roads that were washed out or off bridges they couldn't see were gone. It is very sad but its good the death toll isn't larger. I've watched a lot of video where people were walking in the full-of-rain streets in Charleston...rain up to their thighs. I can't imagine. I wonder what in the world they will do for where to live.

Hopefully the Red Cross and the other agencies that help will have things lined up.

its pretty safe if its just the green. bigger dogs are less affected, of course. but little dogs can have more trouble. regardless of size they are more likely to be affected if they eat edibles, or something like a half-burned roach. it can be crazy scary to watch your dog go through it. takes about 12 hours. lethargy, muscle weakness, inability to walk. wobbles when they do walk. the shakes. holy crap the shakes.

It definitely sucks, but medical science has come a long way and today's drugs can manage it pretty well. It definitely doesn't mean that you're going to have deformed joints like your grandmother may have had.

That's good to hear because by the end of her life she could not even stand. She was taking dozens of the strongest Oxycontin every day. She never did a drug in her life but she went into a BAD opiate withdrawal when she was in hospice care. The nurses ignored her and she didn't get anything for a day or two. I don't want that to happen to me. It made me wonder if her doctor had made a mistake because everything I saw was the same as quitting Heroin. She still had a coffee can filled to the top of these pills after death. Like on the streets it would tens of thousands of dollars. I had no idea you could have that much legally.

Tires came today, regardless of the hurricane. The main one I was getting is like new... The second will make a great spare. (I can rotate it into the mix on occasion as a back tire at first.)

Brakes are okay for now, they won't replace the pads under warranty yet. The front end is another story... Control arm bushings are totally shot, stabilizer end links and front struts are not far behind. Can't put on the new tires until all that is fixed. Shyt's not cheap either.

Found some more rodent chewed wires... Check engine light is from that mess, which is what I was guessing. So now I get to lay under the car with a soldering iron for awhile...

I solder with an iron and shrink wrap, then tape the harness. I've been soldering since I was 8 years old... Other than my hands shaking more than they used to I can still make a good connection. This damage was so close to the plug connectors like those wouldn't typically fit anyways. The underhood damage I did when I had that "no start" a month or so ago was the same, right up against the plug. Barely enough wire sticking out to make a solder connection. Some of these plugs should have been replaced but that's money I don't have right now.

I need some major rodent protection, some of this is probably mice, but some is squirrels going after road salt. I've seen them under the car, standing up with their head up in the chassis area. I've heard of a bunch of gimmicks but I need something real that works. Not so bad that it keeps me from driving the car though. I'm thinking peppermint oil, but the shyt's not cheap either... I need the same for the attic/crawlspace and the garage.

maybe a horse tack store would have some kind of peppermint liniment you could dilute and spray

toy story was pretty good.. I like a few of the cartoons or whatever the animation they call it.. this remake was well made, even with all the strings tied to the dolls. they put a lot of time into that.. I watched the beginning of Ice Age but after the squirrel Im kinda bored with it..
