Things that make ya mad!

yeah, some of these websites seem like they're actively trying to lock you out. i try to use the same couple passwords for everything to keep it simple, but then some sites require a password change approximately every 30 seconds and you can never reuse an old password. and then sometimes if you click the "forgot password" button it will ask you a security question, and when you answer the question with the only possible answer, it will tell you that you're wrong.

 

What makes this worse... Who is going to hack into your account to pay your bills for you?

 

I will gladly give my password out to anyone who wants to pay my bills

I don't like it either but I think the intention is to prevent hackers from brute force attacks, namely dictionary attacks. I believe in more susceptible systems, a hacker could set up a "dictionary" of words, and then have a bot just run through it and have it test out various combinations of the words. This in part, is also why a lot of sites force people registering to have alphanumerical passwords rather than just some combination of words and potentially with a symbol of some sort too.

 

Lmao I had that coming. I walked right into it, didn't I?

 

My work laptop updating and restarting every other day. And taking 30 minutes or so to do it. Enough already.

Edit...right now, my work laptop is restarting and is at 48% for the past 20 minutes. Really unnecessary.

Totally does. I don't even understand the reasoning behind it. I can see once weekly, but it's every day, every other day...and it takes forever to process.

 

Man, that's crazy. You're right, usually security and software updates are weekly or biweekly. Those patches should come in and update in the evenings when everyone is at home, provided that everyone has logged off and not shut thier computers off. Smh...

 

I work from home now, with my new job. Which is awesome, no complaints. But, when things like this happen, you feel isolated. lol The IT dept is in the UK.
