I agree the prosecutor over-charged the case, it should be second-degree murder unless there are facts still not in evidence or made public.

Gotta love that middle name though Angus

I skip a lot of meals and and it seems to actually make it a lot easier than i'd like to lose weight. I usually eventually eat a pretty big meal that makes me feel like crap for a while, and my brain not very sharp as compared to before eating when my brain was literally lit up like Times Square with activity. I doubt I ever average anything like 2000 calories a day, some days I might only consume 600 calories, but I take vitamins and supplements and usually manage not to get extremely skinny. I never eat candy, or stuff like that. I don't see much point in it. The only reason I eat at all is because if I didn't I would eventually die, there really is no other reason to eat. It's not particularly enjoyable, rather a chore; a distraction which often feels to be a waste of time I could spend thinking or solving problems.

Studies on mice suggest that reducing caloric consumption by iirc ~60% can slow the aging process, in some cases doubling life expectancy. (I can't cite this right now, if you want to to research this the research is out there, i'm not sure my numbers are exactly correct, it's been years since I read the papers.)

The brain uses 20% of the energy that the body uses, and that's just from simply existing. I'm sure doing hardcore intellectual thinking or solving difficult problems that really push your brain to the limits could make it use much more energy than that.

EAT 6 TO 8 TIMES A DAY!!!! That's fucking insane, that's like constant eating! Sounds like a lot of wasted time, and more importantly lots of breaks in continuity of thought, i.e. lots of distractions.

BTW: alcohol has 7 calories per gram ... uhm, i mean kilocalories (it would be 7 calories per milligram ... silly people that make food labels).. anyway: so you can count some of those toward your caloric intake. The brain really doesn't care about where it's energy source comes from, AFAIK it prefers pyruvate(-) anyway.

I tend to not really read or look into diets too much. I think most people can just trial and error it for themselves. But on the topic of "healthy" it's just too individual of a statement. What will work for one may not work for the other and what surely doesn't work for one, may work the other.

I've just found that, if I burn more calories than I intake, then I'm fine. That simple. I calorie count and add up my meals etc.

You say here this, and on the next page you say you eat only 1200 calories per day.....Is that total everything for the day, including your beverages, and are you eating the right things....organic fruits and vegetables....etc.....or is your 1200 calories junk food keeping you chubby?
I could drink 1200 calories in one day of pepsi, and that is not funny.
Are there foods to make your metabolism perform better? I don't know...I am asking.
    Do you exercise?

by and large, most of the people i know, are bi and large, so i wouldn't know.
most of them get by just fine working in information technology, the arts, or driving a truck.
the artists, many of them have insecurity problems, but i think that has more to do with the nature of working in the arts.
which also goes for being the nature of the business of business,
which is why its so insane, to think its the greatest thing since sex,
to try and make everything have to be about money.

thin people are the exception and visually attractive because they are the exception.
if this gives them some kind of get out of responsibility free card,
well it probably doesn't unless they also happen to be rich,
or offer sexual favors to do so.

i suppose there's some popular fantasy that they might.
i'm sure many find this more annoying then flattering.

there are of course, physiological advantages to having a favorable volume to mass ratio, in favorable dimensions.
the psychological ones i'm maybe somewhat less certain about.

also its often the less common that has the less advantage,
though this is also a quirk of some humans that makes little sense.

I don't really count calories. I have tried in the past out of curiosity, and found it difficult, especially at restaurants. My guess is that most people underestimate their calorie intake and overestimate their activity level. According to the calorie counter I just plugged into, I should eat about 1700 per day. Do-able. "Society" doesn't make it easy on people to maintain a healthy weight, for several reasons already discussed (i.e. portion sizes, demand to be sedentary,). Food also seems to be touted as the ultimate pleasure, then denial of which leads to a less-than-full life. It's tough to see past the bullshit and not cave to outside pressure.

I read these accounts of people who "can't" lose weight, and see a lot of it firsthand with coworkers and peers. But I can't think of an exception to the fact that all of them have several habits that probably contribute to their weight loss woes. Usually it's little things, like eating a ton of incidental calories, not exercising enough, and adding "diet products", such as artificial sweeteners to their daily intake. But then there are people with chronic, nagging illnesses or injuries that cause them to gain weight or prevent them from moving around.

Even if all people CAN totally control their weight, and this new research is crap, do you think that fat people should be treated as inferior? Is weight a moral issue?

If any of you have been friends with an overweight person, have you seen them being treated differently? Or, if you have been both overweight and thin, could you perceive a difference in the way people treated you? I had a friend a while ago who was what would be deemed "morbidly obese", and I couldn't believe the unsolicited and mean-spirited remarks that she would get, and that was only when I was around. I could see where the constant barrage of judgements and comments could wear on a person over time.

Restaurant websites have improved quite a bit over the last five years.

    Socially? No.

In business, hiring is a highly competitive situation, and I'll always be looking for evidence that an applicant has outstanding or at least better than average self discipline. Also, healthy employees are more productive.

Counting calories when eating out.. sounds like no fun at all.
But eating in a restaurant is a treat/rarity for me so as long as i watch my intake normally I can carelessly 'pig out' when im eating somewhere else (or visit my beloved dutch snackbar to pick up frites etc.) :)

Yes im a hashtag noob :( Never use them myself :p

I am a ovo-lacto-vegetarian so I only eat veggies and the like. I don't really care for junk food all that much it is disgusting. The sugar I get through my diet is natural like either fresh or dried fruits. The only sweet I really like is dark chocolate. Let's take yesterday for example I consumed with beverages included 1,029 calories. I did 1400-1600 calories worth of work. The reason I have weight issues is due to bad genetics I have a metabolic issue. I am not the average fat person per day my husband says I am a skinny person trapped in a fat persons body. I'm not lazy I exercise every day. I like to hike and go out into nature for art ideas. If you had looked on an earlier post I had stated this already.

1200. That's the magic number. Wherever I go, whatever I eat, I put in 1200. If I eat a little bit more ill going be that product and add it but roughly, from McDonald's meal to KFC or steak house, Chinese. It's all roughly 1200 calories. Just the food.

That would be scientifically impossible to do on a regular basis without losing weight. Your body can't magically make calories out of nothing. They have to come from somewhere.

It's not that my body is making calories it is not metabolizing fast enough for continued weight loss. It is storing it as fat. Like a body would if it was starving for energy. Because having metabolic issues makes you tired and lethargic. That is why I have to take medicine and get blood tests often. If you let a metabolic issue go on for to long without treatment your organs can eventually shut down.
