Revenent. Rough. Really rough. Excellent cinematography, beautiful country, great acting, bear scene so realistic, attack scenes with arrows flying around---pretty amazing.
Not much of a story---pretty much a revenge tale, but a must see.

The quietest theater patrons I've seen--people were not even moving a little in anticipation of --"the next bad shit."

(I've heard various stories about my family and my grand father (way back) was a part time mountain man.)

Do you think it will win Best Picture this year?

After watching ROOM, I can understand WHY it was nominated, but I do not expect it to win. My gut is telling me The Revenent will win BP, however I would really like to see Spotlight win.

It may. It was very well done. I haven't seen any other nominees-------Although best actor will undoubtedly go to Leonardo D. I'm still hurting for him---hell of a performance!

Has Shale critiqued this one yet, I wonder?

The Revenent, no, I have not seen it. To be honest, I don't have any desire to see it either. I've heard from a few people now that while the cinematography is fantastic, the movie itself is slow and drawn out. If it wins BP, then maybe I'll watch it when it comes out on demand. We'll see.
