Support the Troops?

In relation to the basic wage in the US, what does a soldier in Iraq earn? Is there social security in the USA? What does that provide?

It is a crying shame the veterans of this nation are dumped upon by the very ones who pat them on the back when they are doing their will and call them "America's Heroes".

If Bush & Co. REALLY believed that, the veteran would have ALL needs taken care of in a kingly fashion by the government.

But, they don't believe it. They give you an "atta boy" and a little medal (if you're lucky) when you damn near getting your ass blown off, then when the HERO is back home they COMPLETELY IGNORE their needs.

 

I agree with you. It is a crying shame that Veterens are not treated with more respect. I don't see many here saying anything more then they are a bunch of killers. I think the idea of this thread is that they deserve nothing and are a bunch of sadistic assholes looking for money at the cost of human lives?

 

I support those who use their minds to think for themselves. Unlike, some mindless automatons we have in this country.

I support anyone's decision not to go into Bush's grist mill, but I also see the hypocrisy of those people who claim they "support the troops" and fail to do any damn thing to aid them once they are back home.

It's a farce. Their "support" is pure bullshit.

 

My wife and I have a combined income of about $28,000 (after being RAPED by the govt) We live very well, we're not in need for anything, my income pays the monthly bills, we save half her income, and play with the rest.

My Grandfather believed in god but was not a Christian. He more believed in god without the religious instatuition behind it. My Great Grandfather I am unsure. My father and I are both atheists. I don't beleive in blindly following anything. Even if I did choose a different path then you, it wouldn't discredit me anyway.

When you can manage to come up with anything half way intelligible, I might consider a response. Its a good thing you do sit around not effecting the world too much.

 

All the guys I know that want to be in the Army either do it for money or as a form of suicide. Let's leave the "serving your country" shit out of this.

This country treats veterans like crap and leaves them broken.

I'm sick of all the articles about vets from this war complaining about how the country screwed them over, especially in medical service...duh.

It's angry, hate-filled people like some of you that killed the organized peace movement in the 70s. Bombing recruiting stations, government offices, violent protests. You judge people because they have a different set of values and profess your hate for them. You're no better that the people you detest.

Whatever happened to peaceful protest? Whatever happened to non-violence? Whatever happened to loving EVERYONE???

EDIT: I'm glad some of you can survive on what you make. You don't have to buy uniforms which are expensive. No, they don't give them to you and they do wear out. You don't have to buy some of your equipment because there isn't funding for them. You're not trying to continue your education. And you're not living in a high cost area, which most military bases are simply because the local economy knows you have a steady paycheck. Not everyone lives in post housing. Few of you have ever been there so you don't really know, you just read something on the internet that says the average 18 year old E3 makes 32K. Try feeding 2 kids and paying rent on 32K. You can't. And since he has no time in grade nor time in service he probably makes less. And let's not forget that 20% of that 32K is paid out in taxes and such.

Finally, thanks for responding to ANY of my other valid points. It proves that none of you can see past your hate for anything in uniform.
