Is the term ghetto blaster derogatory? Sometimes you get confused on these terms that used to be acceptable to the mainstream but have now become unusable

 

I know by ghetto I'm meant to think of poor places and black people in slums NYC maybe haha, at least that's what I think I'm supposed to get out of it, but to me if you just call an appliance ghetto, then to me it's just shit and old and lame lol.

Solar systems have solar panels which create voltage, typically 12 volts DC. This 12 volts charges a battery, that is nowhere near the truck you don't own. Car stereos are meant to run off of 12 volts DC, while home stereos are meant to run off of "house voltage" (120 volts AC here in the states, some european countries that may be 110-240 volts AC.) In order to use home electrical equipment of any type with a solar setup an inverter is used to change the 12 volts DC into 120 volts AC. This adds complexity and wastes current (more battery draw, less running time). You could eliminate the need for the inverter if all the equipment you run is meant to run directly off of 12 volts DC. Here's an idea... Use stuff meant to be used in cars and RV's which run off of 12 volts DC.
