I'm still not clear why an earth based religion would be the nefarious religion used to take over the world. Practicing an earth based religion might actually put things into perspective for some people. I would guess atheism would be the chosen "religion" if all this new world order stuff pans out.

I celebrate the Winter Solstice on Dec 21. Nice that it falls on a Sunday this year so I'm having the dinner here.
Never made sense to me when I attended Our Lady of the Inquisition grade school, "God so love the world that he
sent his only son to save us." What? My question is, Who condemned us to begin with?
Let me get this right, God is All-Loving. Then he condemns us, makes a place called hell to send us.
I figure an All-Loving God couldn't condemn us or send us to hell. My "Big G" is All-Loving all the time.
Yea, I like celebrating the Winter Solstice.

Those glass xmas tree balls are dangerous to pets too. Especially cats - a species who are very skilled in fast xmas tree demolition.

well as i said in the other thread, for me its not about one particular day, but rather the week from the solstice to new year being about celebrating peace.

i think this thread is really seriously misnamed because the name 'christmas' is itself, of relatively recent origin, a renaming of the festival in question.

was any such name, given to this day, anyplace other, then midevil europe, more then three or four hundred years ago?

Well, to be clear I wouldn't have a problem with living among a christian majority or consider a religious majority a medieval or barbaric thing ;)

It's just that when i see stuff like this that I think your country must not be what it proclaims to be :p:

Lots of things. Have you read the speeches the U.N.delivers? There has been talks about this for over ten years and what makes me even more certain is bible prophecy.

    Excerpt from the examiner

If, as the UN says, religions and belief systems are not protected by human rights - and I agree, they clearly are not – what prevents them from taking the next step: deciding that religions and belief systems are nothing more than ancient superstitions that are doing more harm than good, and that it’s time to ban them?

Ok, so that excerpt is what made you certain the U.N. will destroy religion in the coming years?

THE land where you are free to express yourself and be who you are whatever background, mindset or affiliation you might have.

America is all that but we are also a country founded by protestants and there is a Christian majority. But America is a very diverse country as well. There is a protestant church in probably every square mile in my town but you also see mosques, Hindu temples, and Unitarian churches.

Same with my country. But I don't think there are lot of atheists who don't dare to say that they are areligious, if anything (and I would consider that a bad thing) it are christians who are stigmatized and don't feel like proclaiming their religious affiliation anymore in public out of fear they might get mistreated. But saying this already makes me feel that too is an exaggeration (it happens but not much, and there are intolerant assholes anywhere :p)

Don't worry, I noticed :) Remember it was primarily this reply of undies that made me say it sometimes sounds like you guys are still living in the dark ages ;):

If (IF) that still is so on a large scale that would be disappointing in the land of the free.

do you honestly believe we are more so in the u.s. then any place else? i seriously doubt that. i think we're still one of the better places, but it seems likely we are loosing that and loosing it fast.
most places in europe are safer to do so, especially if you're not born w.a.s.p. also i would suggest new zealand and possibly canada. and i'm sure there are plenty of obscure little places where from time to time it becomes and perhaps remains more so too.

You can play with words all you want, does not change facts. Blinded minds have no true words

Blinded minds have no sight. The blind can speak. The speechless have no words. I'm not playing with words you are confused in meaning.
