Well I do agree with you. I think companies treat employees and customers alike as disposable. I find it reprehensible.

Idk what you meant in the last few lines. I don't want any of your dollars...

i can remember when flying was something only rich people could afford.
i was born more then a decade before the first commercial jetliner went into commercial service. i don't know if there was another one before the boing 707, but i remember that being the first one massed produced for civilian passenger service. some time in the early 60s. i forget the exact year. there were other planes with names that sounded like they might have been jets, you know, the usual sort of thing that marketing does, but they all had props.

i remember when you could visit airports, even if you weren't getting on a plane. i remember when you were even allowed to visit parts of the hangers, where you could watch commercial airliners being maintained and repaired. and you could always sit in the resteraunt or lounge, and watch the planes land and take off.

i don't know if you can do that any more or not, but i'm not interested in trying it to find out.

Yes, I do remember. Male passengers all wore suits and ties, and women wore their Sunday dresses.

It all started to change with industry deregulation in the late 60's, and then when the OPEC oil embargo in the early 70's made fuel prices double and triple almost overnight, the airlines were in big trouble financially. That's when everything changed.

You are right. Thanks for the correction.

However, my point remains. It was deregulation and the enormous increase in fuel costs that began to change everything with air travel.

I recently flew from Denver to Chicago, and had a very pleasant experience. I didn't have to check any luggage (I carried on a duffel bag, diaper bag, a large purse, and a double stroller), and both the staff and the fellow passengers were very accommodating and friendly. I had people helping me with everything, every step of the way. Also, my one year old was kind of the in-flight entertainment for everyone. I got nothing but comments about how sweet and well behaved she is.

I think its more fun to sneak guns into courthouses, federal and city county buildings.. @ least there are true targets there..

flew for the first time in 3 years last week. security is crazy gotta walk in this booth and put your hands up while this terminator scanner scans you, then this dude took a swab and some sweat off my palm, put it in a machine and then said ok go ahead. Not to mention every exployee looked pissed.. umm why is he taking my sweat?????

Then since it was 5am and im in an airpot id get some breakfast. A little bit of eggs, 2 slices of ham, 3 potatoes and its $18... WTF

I said outloud, this the most expensive breakfast ive ever bought. Guy next to me in line who is huge with a kid and wife says, yea bro I just paid $45 for eggs... lol.. I think we made the whole line laugh..

I wanted a coffee too, I never buy a nice coffee, almost $5... WTF

so I sat in a hallway and watch people walk by as I check out girls cause wtf else am I doing, im eating this almost $20 eggs n ham... theses eggs suck anyways..

then on the plane they give you a little pretzel snack in a tiny bag that has more ingredients in them than actual eating bites...

thankfully my flight I was next to two guys that were fit/thin... cause when I fly alone and I get window seat, im sorry, but I seriously fucking hope one of these big big over-weight people don't sit next to me..

I don't generally like flying, but the last time I flew it was kinda nice. I wanted to get my own row and I did. The food is definitely expensive but I got lucky. I spent like $5 on a bottle of water, but there was a Mcdonald's when I needed breakfast and I was able to eat relatively cheaply compared to like every other food place in the airport. All the staff on the plane and at the airport were really nice except one of these security guys who was really stupid. But overall it was one of the best experiences I've had flying. I flew with American and I don't remember if I ever flew with them before, but I was impressed.

if you've been handling explosives, that swab test supposedly finds traces of some chemical. apparently terrorists rarely wear gloves or wash their hands.

dont let hoppi see this, she is still upset that people that are giving you money want to test your piss.. but the first time i flew alone i took it as a learning experience. remember fill up before you get to the airport and if you drink, drink up before you go through security...but not to much or you wont make it through.

I've heard that if the little screen in there says "Game Over", you're never seen again. ;) I guess you were lucky.

It was so much better back in the eighties. If you could find an energizer dot in the hallway, the TSA people would turn blue, and you could eat them for breakfast, but you had to hurry at the higher levels. ;)

when i was born, more people rode trains then drove cars, the only jets were in the military, and only rich people had ever riden in a plane at all.

you could go to the airport and watch them take off and land, even wander around in the hangers and watch them being worked on, but an airline ticket was just way beyond what anyone could afford.

i don't know if there were other commercial jets before the boeng 707. that's the fist one i remember there being. also i'm not sure what year it entered service but i'm pretty sure it wasn't before 1958.

and by then i was 10 years old. might not even have been until around the time of kennidy, and by then i was in high school.

lockeed electras, pan am clippers, dc 6s. even a few dc 3s were still around.
