Actually it is; They grope little children, the new 'metal' detectors are easily avoided. (you can sneak guns right in.) And now the TSA is talking about expanding to bus stops, public events, CHECKPOINTS etc. That's too much Federal power

Exactly, that doesn't have anything to do with safety, just control. It's all a bunch of bullshit.

Ummm actually the government turns everything into a political thing; That's why the TSA is molesting us in our airports from the get.

We were simply spoiled. Now we have to follow basic procedures that other countries have had in place for decades.

The only thing that irks me is having to show identification to fly within my own country. Nuts that is.

I also miss just being able to hop a flight without a passport to the US. We use to be such good friends. :)

We've not been "spoiled," Heather, we had freedom. Which is the ultimate goal of mankind; Some insist there must be a balance between "government" and "freedom," Well, Right now I'd say the scale is tipped all the way toward government. They don't own us, therefore they weren't "spoiling" us. We were simply consumers using a service provided to us- There was NO reason for government involvement.

Anyone know how many "terrorists" the TSA caught? 0, None, zip!

Yea, it just takes longer and when you have 2 toddlers to think about with time and being back sometimes its just easier to go the faster route.

Everything worked out great! Every time before they were getting ready to load i went and asked them what they wanted to do with me and my scooter and I was able to pretty much scoot right to the plane then my boyfriend would put down the handle bars and they would just put it under the plane or whatever it was. On the long flight when my boyfriend was sleeping (it was a all night flight) the stewardess helped me and got my crutches for me and a few times they changed my seats to where I didn't have to crutch all the way to the back of the plane. I always got my scooter back right away when we landed and got off of the plane :)

Going through TSA kinda sucked but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Of course, I couldn't just walk through so I had to go to the side and they had to feel all around me and use their wand and machine and make sure I wasn't a scooting bomb.

    Thanks for asking GLEN.

In some ways we were spoiled. We could travel anywhere in NA without even a passport. There is no other continent on this planet where that happened.

I do understand the freedom aspect of your statement but reasonable also must be applied. As I stated I seriously dislike being asked for my passport within my own country to travel but to enter into the US, it is not as convenient but it does not irritate me.

It's been around for a little over ten years. The best years for flying came during a time when there was far more government regulation of the industry than there is now. You don't know what that was like, because you hadn't been born yet.

I'm gonna give you a -rep when I'm done posting. Not because you're an idiot, but because you had the nerve to -rep me merely for stating a widely held view point.

Secondly, the TSA, being a Federal Agency, is becoming the governments way of getting around the 4th Amendment. You can't leave a search, and as a guy, I know they pat you down and feel your genitals, to make sure you don't have an "underwear bomb." It's a total invasion of our privacy; If you want that at every Concert, debate, bus stop and, checkpoints then, you have some serious dependency issues.

If I want to talk about it, I'll post in an appropriate thread. You're simply off topic.

If you'd like to speak about it. I don't feel like I am off topic though. You said remember when flying was fun and cool, and although I'm not old enough to "remember" when flying was anything but a strip search; However, my personal connotation was that flying would be fun and cool, if we didn't have to get felt up by the TSA. If you don't want to talk about it, I'll leave your previous on-topic topic alone.

At your age, there's no way you have ever experienced in any industry the kind of customer ass-kissing that used to go on in aviation. They were required to have the same ticket prices as their competitors, so the only way they could fill more seats was to have better service than the other airlines. They even hired consultants who were specialists in world-class ass kissing. For customers, it was fantastic!

Since then, it seems like almost every company in every specialty has forgotten that without customers, they are nothing, and they have nothing. And the customers have forgotten that you don't get anything for free in life. If you're not willing to pay one dollar extra for good treatment, you're not going to get it, no matter how much you complain.

    That's my main point here.
