There was a lot of isolationism before WW2, and "not our war" sentiment. I shudder to think of the consequences of the US not entering the war when they did. That was some smooth thinking when they allowed Japan attack Pearl Harbor to give everything a kick start.

We need another FDR.

 

The Right Wing smear ads are just terrible now, I can't even watch network TV now - not a single ad is about real issues. I blame the Democrats, too - they just roll over and take it up the ass and come out with their usual 'we're going to make everything great again' ads instead of fighting dirty back, tit for tat.

 

Actually I've noticed that the Dems are in fact fighting dirtier this time. But of course they have a lot of material to work with.

The GOP lies in their campaign ads while Democrats merely exaggerate. Why should they lie when the truth is so much more damaging?

 

Well, they can't "lie", but they can pick up a miniscule bit of truth and then blast it - as long as there is some kind of proof..otherwise they run the risk of slander and defamation. Like....."The Democrats are all MURDERERS!!!" *of roaches and flies, documented RNC ABC DEFG, subject to verification by ORKIN and we support this message with helium

Well at some point in the future the whole of North America will float off to the west and bump into Asia, and guess what ??? - the first bit that it will collide with is Kamchatka which is most definitely Russian. When that happens, its likely that the then Russian leader will claim the whole of North America as part of Russia !!!

 

I wouldn’t hold your breath. The future is happening at the rate your fingernails grow….the “future” is on the order of more than a hundred million years off.

Considering russia's current incompetence of epic proportions, I don't think that country's gonna exist long enough to claim anything when this finally happens... oh, in about 10 million or so years. For comparison, the British Empire's hegemony only lasted about 250 years, give or take a few decades. The Egypt of the pharaohs only lasted about 3000 years. During these periods the planet hardly changed, and the tectonic plates barely moved at all. I think you're in for a long wait, boy.
