repost from elsewhere, on obama's re'election

"...actually it's makes very little difference who wins now..." mentioned the goblin asking first to be forgiven for the way he wrote, it was just his way of remaining anonymous, whereupon he quickly got into basics, continuing "...if you remember, originally obama was not elected on healthcare concerns, no if you remember rightly, it was boys home by christmas, close gitmo, and correct the patriot act, where it was only after he came into office they changed our focus to healthcare reforms, why, because if you only have two parties where six republicans come together with six democrats under a president with executive powers to decide the budget between them, then you no longer have a functional democracy, no instead in its place you have a collusion of interest, moreover, if 15000 troops remain in iraq regardless of who wins, if a country commends demonstrations abroad while squashing them at home, if a country decries human rights violations and lack of civil rights in china while passing a national deference authorization act that strips its citizens of habeas corpus, the right to any legal regress, allows torture, lets military duties be done by police, and blatantly kills their own citizens too, like an american citizen killed in yemen earlier this year, if all this then, can you not see where things are now and where they heading to too...", at which point the goblin stopped, perhaps wondering how the US could repeatedly request the UN to decry iranian nuclear proliferation while never suggesting the even handedness of requesting nuclear inspectors for isreal too, but no, the goblin returned to topic by saying "...your democracy is like mere icing on a cake humans, where the actual cake is ben bananke's injection of 40billion dollars into the financial system each month, plus his telling the other nations at the tokyo summit last week that either they inflate their currencies or suffer the consequences, moreover, once these elections are over, mandatory spending cuts kick in, george bush's tax breaks end, and capital gains tax goes up 85% too, in short, did you really think that whoever wins this election would change the cake now, ah no, the taxpayer will continue to pay for the bank's misappropriation of wealth, where the banks will continue to perpetrate the biggest crime in human history, and where those banks will pay for the elections, politicians, and media too, where besides, the fed is not american it's a consortium of banks whose intention is devaluing the dollar in your pocket is ample proof of their treachery towards you and the country you love, I mean didn't jefferson warn you about central banks, wasn't the glass-steagall regulatory barrier put up to protect you, and doesn't alan greenspan, who worked for JPmorgan before entering the fed, today consult for JPmorgan once more, no I would hazard a guess here, but if your forefathers, those founding fathers then, were looking at you now, they would sickened by their wasted effort where you would deserve your fate if you take note of a cake that you evidently have no slice of..."

the goblin thought the brits were far smarter than they came across, saying "...the pictures are wonderful, the posts are good, and I like it here, so will let you live mortals, that is, unless you are in the uk, where, between the pub and the labor exchange, a mere subsistence existence is practiced I believe, in that case I will just let you escape to our continent here, or I could have my african friend now offer you this red cross food package in sympathy for your plight..."

repost from "what are you thinking" thread, elsewhere

"...well I'm thinking about that difference between one's internetself, aka one's alter-ego here perhaps, and oneself in one's dailylife again..." mentioned the goblin, adding "...no, the question really is how to create a persona that helps one come to terms with the eventual demise in dailylife, as summed up in the act replaces the actor and the writer by his creation...", in fact, the goblin knew that no one could escape their dailylife, only that one wasn't really aware of one's dailylife while upon forumland, "...just an escape by one's own preoccupation perhaps..." laughed the goblin at such a youthful delusion now, adding "...and why not where my dailylife simply means one's old age where there's no old age on forumland bar that which one gives oneself.."

repost from elsewhere, written before iceland was bailed out in 2010

the goblin is thinking that it's almost certain now that an EU country will default this year in the face of this insurmountable debt, "...and no, neither the UK nor Ireland quite fitted this bill here, more likely it has to be italy or greece in my view..." reckoned the goblin continuing "...it will probably be something similar to what happened with argentina, where the country just refuses to pay it's foreign creditors rather than allowing total system collapse, but the problem with hard times is always how quickly things turn towards some dictatorship politically, and some protectionism economically..." since that sense of share and share alike just dries up replaced by that call for action now, "...just we've been here before, and so many times too, dictatorship in europe is on the cards..." ventured the goblin

well britain is known for its fruitcakes, "...oh and yes, I love their dundee cake too, and rare amongst the swiss, I have eaten their christmas pudding and lived to tell the tale, isn't that just amazing then..." went the goblin with his mind going back to that fabled moment where, waiting for the number 9 bus in the drizzling wet windswept street, the goblin first realized that here, at least, was somewhere rather conducive to daydreaming, which as everyone knows was just a short step away from doing imaginative posts here, "...so there you have it folks, london as your very own springboard away from its reality then..." mentioned the goblin

the goblin never forgot hemingway's ways famous line "If you are lucky enough to have lived in paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for paris is a movable feast", and then the goblin felt that he too, should try for a quote, something like "..."if you are lucky enough to have lived in london as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for london is meals on wheels then..." ventured the goblin

"...oh yes it all floods back, kendal mint cake is great when one is about to die of cold running across those open moors having escaped from dartmoor prison isn't it, and where those sheep, like vultures, are just waiting for the kill to eat your garments..." mentioned the goblin who otherwise didn't really care to eat it

the goblin had noticed that rarely did protectionism exist without dictatorship, "...perhaps the one leads to the other then, perhaps not, but each dictator seems to come in on the back of an economic downturn, revolution and then dictatorship..." ventured the goblin though economically, the goblin agreed localism as opposed to gobalism had some merits, and yet one had only to look at the end of the western roman empire to see where that fragmentation of the system eventually leads to

repost from elsewhere, written in the early days

the goblin's work was on a three day week at this point, "...so ours is to witness then..." the goblin observed, continuing "...well, as we look on at all these failings of the moneygod that are becoming so evident and hurting the system worldwide, simply those failings were either those real or those perceived, and as such formed two separate problems here, one being the functionality of the system, the other being confidence in the system..." ventured the goblin again feeling that any solution to either one alone would not be enough to really return the situation back to the functional, confident state which had existed prier to this present day downturn, so the goblin continued, "...no, the hardest part will be restoring the confidence in the family unit, a problem one can still see in low birth rate in russia now, and in those eastern block countries since they had first embraced capitalism, anyway, at least within the american political system, there seems a sense on hope now, even if "hope is only a good breakfast" as they say...",

("...skip this, if too long for you..." advised the goblin, adding "...no, just look at the picture instead..")

repost form "what did you do today" thread, elsewhere

the goblin walks into the psychiatrist's studio, "...hello, what can we do for you mr....,..." says the receptionist waiting for him to fill in the blanc of his name "... fleamailman, as in the "insect" with "post" and "man"..." replies the goblin looking around at the usual row of elbowless chairs set hard up against the wall in front of that standard coffee table with its pile of scruffy fashion magazines, the goblin hesitantly continues "...well miss..." stopping to find the words for a moment distracted, then lifting his gaze up from the gap between her blouse buttons, "...actually I am having doubts about my internet-self, moreover, I get the feeling that my muse is mad..." blurts out the goblin, as if confessing to something, "...oh I see..." the usual off the cuff reply she makes while looking quickly down to the piece of paper for the goblin's name again "...well, Mr. fleabatman..., ..." as her hand moves towards the drawer, where those blanc "case forms" are, stops, rests her hand on the table, then, vaguely interested asks “... ...but surely, that doesn't make you disfunctional in real life so where's the problem here...", "...yes miss, that's what the muse keeps telling me too, oh, and naturally that greedy slot would say anything just to get fed again wouldn't he..." the goblin answered, noticing her hand once more moving towards the drawer again, he continues "...fact is I am not sure if a certain divergence between dailylife with common sense really merits madness, I mean most people, in that way, would be mad I suppose, otherwise their dailylifes would be mad if they themselves weren't mad that is...", a degree of certainty crept into her actions as she starts to write out the goblin's "case form" smugly saying "...well, that's why our psychiatrist deals with disfunctionality rather than open madness mr fleabatman...", "...well there you go, miss barbiedoll here has said it, goblin..." butts in the muse continuing “...and, since you're a paragon of subservient functional conformity if ever there was one, there's nothing wrong with you is there, can we leave now please..." the goblin gorps at the receptionist "...goblin, can I swallow this down yet, I'm hungry..." says slot sensing the goblin's gorp at the receptionist had something to with male hormone braindeath again, slot just gulped anyway, "...you know, if there weren't two of them, anyone would think you had a "one tracked mind" goblin..." as the muse places her hands on his ears form behind and gently lifts up his head, and moreover his gaze, back to the receptionist's face, "...yes muse but she has a wonderful pair of, ouch..." the muse's nails take a vengeance on the goblin's scalp, adding "...right now goblin, just say your excuses to miss barbiedoll there and let's go please...", "...now mr fleabatman, if you will just take a seat, I will call our disfunctionality specialist, who will no doubt, be delighted to see you in a moment, meanwhile let me get you a cup of coffee..." as she walks in front of the now skipping zombie following her with outstretched arms behind her behind "...hear that muse, a coffee, she's human after all, now if this joint has WIFI we can just set up my laptop and check my emails from those "last post" thread replies, etc.,...", "...wow now that's more like it goblin..." replied the muse changed to her euphoric self again, continuing "...oh yes, I can see it now goblin, my name in lights that is, the paparazzi, those cameras, immortality too..." as the muse jumps onto the goblin's back, kicks and rides the goblin's mind headlong into the screen in one giant leap, "...oh yes, go for it my goblin, all hands to the keyboard, "open slotemy" and away with us..." she bellows as the internal scene completes its teleportation whereas outside a now gyrating zombie bobs his head up and down to goth music while the forgotten receptionist returns with his posting fuel, his "computer/coffee/self" triangle complete, his forcefield up and functional that is, the slot just gulped down the scene again, but alas there was never any cure when it got this far

the goblin enters the bistro, heads for his usual seat and there in the corner is a couple who pay a moment's strained silent close attention to the goblin's entry into the scene here, the goblin tries to give the impression that he is not interested by simply making his actions of setting up his laptop clearer than usual, as they, in their turn, return to themselves in a conversation that will become more and more romantic as they lower their guard again, their infidelity is clear since married couples in bistros invariably talk shop and are indifferent to others

the goblin admitted that the trouble with his life was not knowing its duration, "...you see, if I had but a short time to live, then even a small amount of money would make me relatively rich whereas, if I were to live well into my old age, then I am poor no matter how much money I may have..." ventured the goblin, adding "...so a "fear of poverty" is the mindset of older people for this very reason, it's as if their future played cat and mouse with them..."

repost from elsewhere, someone who had mentioned "people watching" as a hobby

"...snap..." said the goblin, whose work deals with people, continuing "...people watching is really something more like people reading, and although it doesn't get easier with practice, ones ability to discern both the type of person and their situation does, but what is important here is to remain anonymous, unnoticed throughout, as one doesn't want to let on that one is sketching here..."

repost from elsewhere, same old question

the slot just repeated to the goblin that same old point again, "...goblin, everyone wins a journey to self here whenever they post now, it's ever the same prize, and for everyone too, simply, they begin to see themselves by what they post, that's all goblin but that's so much more than going through life not knowing for sure, or thinking one knew all the same..."

the goblin crawled into the bistro with a hangover, homed in on his usual chair and then sat down avoiding in turn the bucksom barmaid, her cakes, and above all and any drinks other than coffee coffee coffee coffee, somehow the goblin now knew how edgar allan poe had probably got his idea for "the fall of the house of Usher" novel, where the hero could hear her scratching fingernails on the coffin, and how each sound seemed amplified annoying and caused guilt within him too, "...ah yes, perhaps then, he had come into the bistro the morning after then..." mentioned the goblin in passing

the goblin though that macbeth's downfall was "not thinking it out enough" whereas hamlet's downfall was "not acting soon enough", the goblin continued "...in fact, shakespeare was probably aware of that book "the prince" where, in it, machiavelli writes "the lion falls into traps, and the fox gets eaten by wolves"...", so the goblin just wondered if "the lion of macbeth" and "the fox of hamlet" could be examples of this idea then

his trivial day over, the goblin returned to the slot but, as of yet, he hadn't reached that depth that would come later in the hour he knew, "...the posting is the easy part but finding something worth posting here is both a challenge in itself and the reward of this game then..." voiced the goblin in the quiet empty room once more where the slow ticking seconds seemed to tally the duration of his wait even if "the actual time" at that point along with all else was irrelevant, somehow each repetitive tick was just enough to let the goblin know that the hour was advancing in a steady passing sensation as the goblin carefully sifted through his thoughts again, "...I suppose, that it's for this sensation, of depth in slow passing moments then, that I keep facing the slot like this..."

"...richelieu once said "secrecy is the first rule of state", and the important thing here is that secrecy, in this sense, isn't some childlike denial, or refusal to reply, or straight out lying either, it's that actual where am I in all this question...", and then the goblin felt his nagging need of a coffee again, he was now fighting a sensation of dullness of thought that was taking over within him, either way the goblin knew he would have to head into the kitchen in a moment, but meanwhile he just continued "...anyway, the world of adolescence, as opposed to that of adulthood, is the one of finding one's secrecy mistakenly thought of as actually gaining some outright independence, for secrecy one can have in dailylife if one constantly keeps it in focus, but dailylife doesn't let one have that true independence, if only because society functions on the surrender of everyone's independence within it, moreover, the moment one asks oneself "what do I want from dailylife" one is just selling oneself out to dailylife again..." mentioned the goblin finally heading headlong into the kitchen for that coffee, no independence there
